Spies to announce deal at Indy.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Noodlerizer @ Sep 15 2008, 08:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>IF I hear one more person saying that he will stay in AMA I might just go on a killing spree. Staying in America would entirely ruin any chance of a career in wsbk or motogp. He has clearly stated that he will not stay in the US anymore. It would be the most stupid thing a talented rider has ever done. He will go nowhere and become a nobody just like Mladin. Nobody in the world cares if you win 5 or 6 championships in the US....the only way I can see him stay one more year in the US is iff someone gives him an option for GP or WSBK for 2010, but that is still ridiculous. Both US series are in turmoil and nobody knows what is going to happen. If Spies does not even land a WSBK ride for next year, than he will probably never be good outside the US.

You know what looks stupid? Riding around in circles on a Rizla Suzuki for $500,000 per season. When you have 2 million reasons to stay in the U.S.

Why would you give up that kind of cash to go ride for Denning?

Maybe Yamaha told him to go ride around in America for a year, then give Herve a call. As long as Tech 3 stay factory, I think a satellite Yam is far better than a Suzuki.

Lot's of people climb up the ladder for less payment, that is not at all stupid. 500k won't make him starve. The question is if it is a step up to ride the Suzuki in motoGP right now. I'll leave that to others to decide.

Remind me how high the last 4 people climbed after their time at Suzuki.

Kawasaki is a better risk. They have shown they are willing to take big gambles to improve.

Suzuki/Denning have shown they are willing to lose FOREVER.

uhm sorry?

loris is the guy with the most experience in motogp/500cc. he knows how to develope a bike and there for he is of great value for suzuki

kawasaki <u>sucks</u>. they payed big money for hopkins, and where is he at? they have west as their 2nd rider... need I say more. which of those 2 can possibly develope a bike. melandri wont help either, remember when he was at gresini, they had to keep his laptimes a secret otherwise he would've been to focussed on how fast he was compaired to the other riders. they're screwed.

sorry babe...experience has done nothing for Loris... Spies has beat him in his last 2 races...AND the water bug also this pat race...Suzuki needed to think of the future...not just next year...

proof is in the pudding right.... go watch the Indy race again

Tell me why you people think that Spies is cocky/arrogant.

First, the only way to make it in MOTOGP is to be on a top bike. And by make it I don't mean the Hopkins route. I mean the Rossi, Pedrosa, Lorenzo route. So what, Spies is on the best damn bike in AMA and wants something good in MOTOGP. IMO he is proven to be a competitor(in MOTOGP as well), race winner, championship winner, he can setup a bike(or maybe he just got lucky on his setup at Indy), he's quick to adapt and he is fast as hell. I think that Suzi made a big mistake if they passed on him.

As far as money goes, did you guys see Colin Q&A, yeah these guys are all not happy with what they are getting payed. Spies may have to forget about this one.

As far as the announcement goes, where the hell was it?

1 or 2 races in motogp doesnt make him a better rider than loris, doesnt prove a thing

Al, Spies is not even at his peak yet. Give him a few years on a MotoGP bike, any bike and tell me them.

I think he could win on a second tier Ducati. He could win with a Kawasaki IMO.

Yes EXACTLY...he is getting better and faster... As much as i DO like Loris..he's on a down hill slope...another injury waiting to happen...Loris is WAY past his peak...Spies is getting to his...
do the math

Exactly, where is that announcement?

Spies had something to prove/gain at Indy. He seems a lot better at pre-race setup than CV or Capper and this is where I think he shone.

Suzuki obviously can't win races continuously because the budget isn't there to cycle development fast enough to keep up. I wish they would pony up another 30 million and put 2 more bikes on the grid and get in the game hardcore but all the development money goes into the GSXR program it seems. Capper is necessary for one more year to get the COG right but then they need new young fearless blood and they ...... up not signing Spies and putting a 3rd bike on the grid next year. Really ...... up bad there.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (xx CURVE xx @ Sep 15 2008, 08:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>yeah..and how many years riding without doing .... has Loris had?
Debatable, certainly the last two years weren't that impressive. I believe that the title would've been his in '06 had it not been for Catalunya in a year when bike, rider, and tryes were all there - prior to that the Desmo was under development, and before that he was on leased bikes in the Pons satellite team with one season wasted on a 2 stroke up against the 'diesels'. Other than that I agree, I'd have rather have seen the huge talent that is Spies on that bike next season even if Denning does have his detractors, and the package may not be what it should. I fear Loris is riding mainly for the money and the record books, but it's heartwarming to see someone of his vintage and pedigree who still loves to race a motorcycle and enjoys what he does
