Spies says Stoner most talented ever

Which part Jumkie?

Oh and PS. do you know that Ben Spies says Casey Stoner is the fastest and most talented rider EVER to ride a road race bike.!!

- A number of riders had front tyre problems at Assen and Mugello. One explanation was too much trail braking. Do you find it has an effect on front tyre wear?

"It depends on the bike set-up. Depends how much weight's on it. So you'll go into the corner and

normally my bike's set up a little bit more so it releases the front a little bit earlier.

We've got a bit stiffer springs in, maybe. So I'm able to go into corner a long way and I have to, to be honest, to get the bike to turn, keep that bike weighted and loaded. And if you don't you've got to have a bike that when you release the brake it doesn't want to release so much. So it's still got all that weight on the front but just in a different way.

"It's something strange. I think Andrea (Dovizioso) had it quite bad on his bike (in Assen) and he pushes the front in very, very hard. Some area I guess he likes to work on a lot. I prefer to stay a little more balanced. But he puts a lot of pressure on that front and I guess that sort of buckled as well. Even my tyre during that race, I was coming out, as soon as I cracked the gas and got a little bit of weight off it, the bike was just skipping and moving everywhere. And didn't feel good in general.

"It's different techniques, different ways you load the tyre and different set-ups that you use to benefit your technique and that's exactly why just about no two riders can use the same set-up, because they have to use different ones because they have a different way of riding."

- Andrea (Dovizioso) believed your riding styles were similar, but soon saw everyone was different.

"I'll never even try and think that two riders are the same. Every rider I've ever been around has their own technique and their own way to gain speed. So, that's something that I disagree a lot with, rider coaches and things like that that are trying to bring speed in a different direction. Each rider has their own potential and should be brought out by themselves and trying to nurture their own speed rather than trying to bring speed out by their way which isn't natural and it's something you got to think about.

And i officially have to much time on my hands. Went back to 06-2011 and there has been 14 official wet races. Of those 14

Stoner 6 wins , 2- 3rds, 2- 4ths, 1- 5th, 1-6th,. 1-14th , and 1- taken out by his closest competitor in this comparison. It's actually not even close, Stoner is by far the master of wet weather racing.

One of the 6 wins you mention was Sepang 2009. I was there and he made it look like it wasn't raining for him in comparison to the rest of the field including Rossi and Lorenzo. Whilst I admit that rain is a great leveller of machinery, Stoner is undoubtedly great in the wet. That was the weekend when Rossi broke the lap record with a 2'00.518 on the Saturday in the dry and looked incredibly impressive.... until it rained on Race day. Stoner finished over 14 seconds ahead of Pedrosa (2nd), over 19 ahead of Rossi (3rd) and almost 26 seconds ahead of Lorenzo (4th).

Also Silverstone 2011 (as others have said) where you could hear from trackside, the significantly less TC that Stoner was running in qualy & the race than the others epecially Dovi on the same bike who finished over 15 seconds back in 2nd.

There are no gods Pov. Unless you are a time traveller from 5000 years ago and you have tried to make sense of earthquakes, lightning, stars. sunrise and sunset. In more enlightened times (now?) we understand what is really going on and don,t need to ascribe to things we don,t understand as being an act of god. ( Sorry that I,m being a pedant) I know its just a phrase, but the war against nonsensical theism never ends!

Well not in Bunyipland.

Actually, I think Casey would be quietly pleased that it was Rossi,s birthday. Casey still respects the Rossi record, not the occasional crap.

Or Xi the Bushman

Cant take credit for this but it was classic.

When asked about what he thought about Stoner's baby being born on his birthday, Rossi replied" Adriana want to give me present, so she poosh veddy haad.

The first time I really sat up and took notice of Stoner's ability and raw talent was the 2005 250cc Shanghai GP....he was imperious that day and finished 40 seconds ahead of Pedrosa and gave the field an absolute lesson in wet weather riding and controlled agression - it was one of his best rides IMO.

Is Spies correct? Maybe, maybe not....it is after all just another opinion, albeit with more credibility than most given his perspective of having actually competed against Casey. But it is impossible to quantify a statement such as his..... which is why we see these endless threads arguing whether Rossi is the GOAT, Stoner is the FOAT etc etc. It is all moot as no one has the ability to give a definitive answer either way.

Statistically Ago is the GOAT....but with all statistics you must apply context to get close to the truth and many posters seem to have little interest or zero ability to do this....Talpa probably being the best example on this particular forum. So Spies statement can be easily discredited by those with personal bias and the cycle is perpetuated again and again ad nauseum until the next thread where it all starts over.

And Jumkie I have one question for you (even tho I know you wont even attempt to answer the question)...

Please name just ONE rider in the entire history of the sport who has competed over a reasonable time frame (say five years at least) and remained undefeated their entire career? Yeah thats right it has never happened! Which makes your spurious claims about taking Spies comments in "context" ridiculous in the extreme.

Thanks Squig. Just went back and watched that race. Also watched Estoril which was the round before that Stoner also won coming from 12th on the grid and fighting his way thru the field against quality riders. Sort of makes you wonder how some can try to argue that Stoner does not like to race. For anyone who actually wants to educate themselves it is blatantly obvious that he is more than capable of race for the win. Another interesting note was on the forth last lap when Stoner overtook DePuniet and Dovi from 3rd into first in the same corner he ran DePuniet wide, did not touch him, but put up his hand to apologise to DePuniet for running him wide.

I am now convinced that you are yet to reach puberty. In an attempt to be funny you prove yourself to yet again just be well, pathetically juvenile.

Not just once either. I guess it was only 25% funny and had to be spread around 4 different threads

So what are you doing on a MotoGP forum? There are plenty of ... sites you can go on. Why even log on to this site if that is all you have on your mind. Most of us have a wife or girl friend that has a pair that we can play with so we don't need to hear about your pre-pubecent infatuation with them on a MotoGP site. Also Adriana is not that special in my opinion and she has bugger all in the .... department and having plenty of knowledge of breastfeeding breasts as I have 3 boys all of them breast feed and I can tell you now you DON'T get access to them.
