Spies says Stoner most talented ever

There was something very funny on twitter today, rumour was Adriana had a baby girl and that during the birth Casey was complaining because another girl in the bed beside Adriana had 6 midwife's helping her push while Adriana only had 2 midwife's helping her push.

How funny would that be? Poor Casey just can't get the Valentino monkey off his back. For Casey's kid sake, who has nothing to do with their rivalry, I hope Adriana doesn't give birth until the weekend or later.

Excellent post Clark.

Any chance you can get down to Daytona in a month?

Excellent post Jum? I beg to differ.

Casey is as good if not better than anyone in the rain. Has Silverstone last year been forgotten already? You were there weren't you?

He also creamed the field at Le Man which is a tight twisty track & was on pole at Jerez until bunted off by a guy who couldn't turn the Ducati properly. (there's a hint for you)
<

You can't analyze what he did on a Ducati & say he can't ride fast on tight tracks.

I would have thought people would be aware by now that that the Ducati has never exactly turned on a dime.

Agree. Stoner is good in the rain. To cap the point, he won his 2nd title under wet slipper conditions at PI while a few others crashed. As far as Clarks post, it sounded to me he was expressing some 'hope' in remaining a laggard in wet, not so much that he was stating it as fact. Though i may be wrong. So lets downgrade Clarks post from excellent to good? After all most his post was complimentary of Stoner except for the antics part.

There are few and minor performance flaws one could find in Stoners.

Apologies for the rain error. He's kinda awesome in that dept...

I was at Jerez in 2008. Its mostly decreasing radius corners. I remeber think how freakishly f'ing fast that "Stoner guy" looked coming out of turns 2 through 4. He'd pull major bike lengths on others then .... it up on Sito pons. I didn't rate him until that day. Its hard to describe. And sadly, the race video doesn't show him carving up the field. It was MEGA. That was the moment I realized how talented he is. I wish I had a recording of it.

However, it wasn't enough to make up for his failures on corner entry. After Dovi's comments about Stoner not using the front end anything like he thought, it makes sense.

Doesn't change the fact that Stacey is a Moaner.

Ok, it looks like we all agree. Stoner is great in the wet.

Btw, congrats to him on the new kid. In sport as in life, it seems he will now forever be linked for better or worse to Valentino. The cosmos are a strange bunch.

The thought has ocurred to me that after they are both retired, perhap one day they will be friends. Seriously.

Notice I never tried to challenge you on this one.

In races like Jerez, where corner enrty is paramount, Casey loses. His advangage comes from acceleration performance.

When tire life comes into play, Stoner's brutal agression erases his gap.

In the rain, confidence and temperance matter. Hopefully, Casey remains a laggard in that department.

Stoner still behaves like a petulant child. Until that changes, he can be beat.

Agree with much of your post, having said earlier in the thread myself that fastest is not necessarily best. He is definitely both the fastest and best ducati rider of all time (up till the end of the 2011 season anyway). While he was very fast on the more conventional honda last year, I am not sure he is definitely faster than the likes of freddie spencer, with whom basspete sees parallels.

His character and temperament are even more a matter of opinion, and you are obviously entitled to yours, but among others I still think his major character flaw/personality defect is his propensity to beat valentino rossi; he still attracted major criticism/detraction in 2007 in the absence of the practice behaviour. I am interested to know when you think his "petulance" has actually detracted from his race performance, because I think most of his riding problems on the ducati, and his "poor corner entry" at tight tracks like jerez are now attributable to the bike after seeing valentino on the ducati; the thing just wouldn't turn regardless of rider skill.

You cant remain a laggard, if you never were a laggard

The gods have a strange sense of humor.. My first thought was of Rossi hearing the news and that devious .... eating grin , laughing his ... off like when they ...... up and played the wrong national anthem after one of Jorge's wins..

It could be looked at the other way, now that all the world has remarked on the coincidence of birthdays, that valentino will always be reminded on his birthday that it is a day of great joy for his most successful (thus far) rival, and one he apparently dislikes. If stoner is like most people the joy of the child probably exceeds that of the championship wins

(EDIT)Like jumkie i wonder whether any bitterness between the two will persist long into retirement anyway.

but maybe this is the thing that will someday bring thing together? KS & WR were enemies until they retired then became bestys. No quite the same dynamic but ya never now.

Maybe Rossi can tweet an offer to be the kids godfather since he is God...

Reaching...but why not.

Spies need to stop 'pretending' to be soo polite. As a racer you HAVE to believe you are the best...... if not, make way for others. Every racers know that, backmarkers ncluded.u believe you are not the best, you shouldn't even gear up and show up on the grid. Spies need to stop trying to be soo 'pretty', and put his head down, grit his teeth, and show and prove instead of always trying to PR and be politically correct all the time. He's a fake.

He needs to step it up, plain and simple.

There are no gods Pov. Unless you are a time traveller from 5000 years ago and you have tried to make sense of earthquakes, lightning, stars. sunrise and sunset. In more enlightened times (now?) we understand what is really going on and don,t need to ascribe to things we don,t understand as being an act of god. ( Sorry that I,m being a pedant) I know its just a phrase, but the war against nonsensical theism never ends!

Well not in Bunyipland.

Actually, I think Casey would be quietly pleased that it was Rossi,s birthday. Casey still respects the Rossi record, not the occasional crap.

Well the only trouble with your observation is that it differs greatly to the many perusals of Stoners telemetry. Other peoples observations, and race results.

The basic trouble is that folk can not figure out how he get INto around AND OUT of the corners.

Perhaps its a one off, you feel you observed? But it does not accord with riders observations.

Indeed your comment attempts to make idiots of even your own countrymen, Hayden and Spies. I think I'd rather trust their observations

Anyway as we remember from the famous "Babel's" observations on Stoners throttle control, from a seat in the stands

, fans trackside observations are at best ........ flawed, especially those with a strange dislike of Stoner such as yourself.
