It must be really useful for any of the other team owners in the field to have a Herrera winning. If your rider is doing average or starts complaining about "lack of grip, not enough power, blah blah blah", you can just remind them that they got beaten at riding motorbikes by a girl.

Lovely advert for your ignorance here.

The bottom line of bike racing is that any rider will go as fast as they can and look for improvements in the bike to make them more comfortable, thus allowing them to go faster.  Unless you're name is Marquez or Lorenzo then the chances are that another rider could ride your bike faster than you could, and there is no dishonor in that even if the people quicker than you are male, female, fat, thin, short, tall, rich, poor, black, white, old, young or even ginger.

And if you are a 15 year old wannabe motorcycle racer who thinks he is the next big thing, and a girl beats you on equal machinery, does that not motivate you to open the throttle a bit earlier and brake a bit later?

If you want to be a World Champ one day, there is dishonour in being beaten by the other guy (or girl). That's the problem with lot's of the riders in the paddock - they look like they couldn't give a .... if they win, lose or cruise home in 8th. People laughed at Espargaro for being in tears the other week, but I'd rather see that level of disappointment than see the rider who smiles and waves to the camera after pulling a nice comfortable 5th place.

My experience with (reasonably) high-level competition is that it becomes much more of a battle with your own psyche rather than spending time worrying how the other guy or gal is doing. If you are wasting time worrying about them then you are far from the necessary level of self awareness and focus needed to compete at your personal best...

So, aside from all that, isn't it great that it looks like there will be a competitive female coming up through the ranks!  She seems like a serious entry that will be mixing it up midpack to the front.  At least better than the Elena Rossel project...  Who unfortunately spent most of her time lapping last or next to last.

The number of fast young girls our local MRRDA is cool. It's not an issue in the paddock.

More sibling rivalry than battle of the sexes.

Yea, but unfortunately she is kind of there as a gimmick. Same as Rossel was in moto2. Glad she's trying, but in a way she is being used.

and isn't that the point. CEV winner. On a KTM. nowhere.

Thought they put these Spanish Riders straight onto the winning circle?

Jumkie, have you ever bothered to look at the lineup for the CEV Moto3 Championship. It isn't just some sort of Spanish rider factory.

Of the 37 riders listed, 21 are from outside of Spain (22 if you want to count Andorra). Considering it is a Spanish Chanpionship, I would say that is more than fair.

The main story running on their website is about the five Australians competing in the various CEV Championships.
