So Who is your money on to be the 2016 champion?

Just wanted to see what other peoples thought where on the 2016 season.

I am hopeful that Rossi will have another good season but unsure if I should put some money on it. I Think if Marquez can keep it on 2 wheels then he may take the title.

Thoughts?

My reasoning is that Lorenzo is a smooth rider who should suit the Michelins and the M1 is the best bike out there. Rossi will be thereabouts but I don't think he'll have the luck of misfortune of other riders he had in 2015 to mount a championship challenge.

Honda to me are the unknown. They seem to be struggling with the new software AND tyres. Tyres aren't so much an issue but they don't have long to sort the engine and controls before the freeze which could see them repeat 2015.

That said, if Pedrosa carries his late 2015 form into this year, he'll give Lorenzo a very hard time.

Yeah I agree, will be good to see what Pedrosa can bring this year. I was looking online at odds and the bookies are putting Marquez down as favourite at even money.

Pedrosa might be worth a punt at 7/1

Any others had any luck betting on the GP? I had a few wins last year on race days, but then I always go for the non favourite to get better odds.

Great sign up offer at the moment with Bet365 at the moment too, the will match whatever you deposit when you open an account. Means your £50 bet will be a £100 bet.

No good for me as I already have a bet365 account :-(

I would love see Dovi get in amongst the top guys. I always bet on Dovi and the only time it paid off was when he won at Silverstone in the rain 3 years ago, he was 40/1 though :)

i'm rooting for the pipsqueak 26.

or iannone.

i love vale – he's my ride or die...but .......he boned himself with his shenanigans last season. excited to see how he ..... .... up this year though!

It'll be 7 years ago next year believe it or not!

wow you are right, 2009 that was. Was a great race though, I remember watching thinking he was mad for not changing his tyres, then watchin as everyone gained on him lap after lap. It was even more tense with some money on him.

Lorenzo is fast and brave, but he is so highly strung that he always makes some crucial mistakes. He typically wins the title when his rivals make even more crucial mistakes than him (2010-2012-2015).

Pedrosa, he always has some problem of some kind. I reckon that without problems, he'd be a favorite. But it's unlikely.

Rossi and Marquez: Rossi will be 37, and Marquez will probably have trouble adapting to the Michelin front. On top of that, these two will race mostly against each other, possibly neutralizing each other.

But if the Honda is sorted and he adapts to the Michelin quickly (2 big "if's"), Marquez will win the title hands down.

In this situation, if his shouder behaves and if the Ducati is as competitive as it can be, (again 2 big "if's", I know) Andrea Iannone could surprise everybody.

And, if the Suzuki makes another big step, Maverick Vinales could also become a credible title contender.

Dovi, I'd like him to be in the fight as well, but his record says otherwise.

And of course it has nothing to do with Lorenzo riding better than his compatriots that season?

Say what you will about Rossi getting injured in 2010 and Stoner in 2012, but there's one man who kept his .... together for the second half of 2015, and that man deservedly won the title and would have won it regardless of key events unfolding differently.

It's become sport to try and diminish all titles that are not won by the Great Yellow Hype.

Sort of interesting how winning 7 races flag to flag worth being the subject of a backhanded remark.

The Rossi injury was hilarious since didn't Lorenzo have the nasty collarbone break at Assen, and still nearly won the 2013 title? What did Rossi do with his injury in 2010? It was milked as an excuse for his lack of quality results on the Ducati well into the summer of 2011 before everyone decided that aha, Ducati is a .... bike.

I suppose though if we want to be somewhat fair, we can also say that Rossi only seems to win titles when the entire deck is stacked in his favor. I haven't seen him win a title without the unfair advantage.

Will come down to a tight race, (not as close as 2015), between George and Marky Mark.

Marky Mark will push to hard one or two races to many and George takes his 4th.

Not sure MM has it in him to not race with the "win it or wreck it" attitude if his bike isn't on.

MM has it in him. He showed it the second half of 2015.

The question is more whether he will continue that approach as he had far more success with it, than without it.

Also I don't want to hear about Dovi at all.

What you see with him is what you get. He's a guy who doesn't have enough talent to break into that upper tier, but enough talent to keep himself out of the backfield for the time being. 2011 did him no favors in the long run since it showed what he was missing relative to Dani and Casey. He's missing that last few tenths, and that's not something he will ever find.

If the Ducati is going to do anything this year, it's going to be because of Iannone.
