Silverstone 2013 MotoGP

the MotoGP paddock will be moving to the old National Paddocks this year, making Copse the first corner again.  They found that they could not accommodate both MotoGP and the support paddocks together at the new Wing.  Also, the National paddock is more accessible for the public

So exactly what was the point in building the new wing if it ain't big enough!?

FFS!

Oh hang on there's the eff one that needed accomodating and there's less of them.

Okay so I just answered my own question. I'm tipsy shoot me!

Makes no odds mate,

Just think it's a waste spending all that money for the new wing for it not to be big enough to accomodate the 2nd largest series to visit!

As I said above it was built for the F1 first and fore most.

Shame because it is a nice complex.

ehm....is this good or bad news?

Both. We've seen some great battles out of Club and Vale and into the home straight - most memorably last year between Marquez and Redding. The crowd capacity is higher with an atmosphere like the Nou Camp. On the other hand the straight line advantage down Hanger won't be so pivotal. Over the years there have been classic finishes through Luffield and powering out of Woodcote. Again the stands are ramming and still make an appreciable noise. The National Paddock is substantially larger and was being used for some support classes at last years GP. It's a shame because the New Wing/International paddock is World Class - such a great international advertisment for British Motorsport. still, as Phil points out - there's still F1 which commands quadruple the worldwide viewing figures.

Well, from my limited experience only having seen one GP & one Wsbk event, i'd have to say good & bad (in agreement with The Voice of Reason Arrabi (that, like MotoGP is trademarked btw). We sat in both areas where the new proposed finishing complex would be (Woodcote & New Wing). Heres my 2 cent. The new Wing offered up some great finishes in both series, we literally saw bikes on their side slide across the finish out of Club. When we sat at Woodcote, we could see the Brookland, Luffield, complex, which was fun because they bunched up a bit coming into Brooklands. Though i dont recall seeing any battles on my visit through this complex, since once u come out of Brooklands and through Luffield its rather a 'follow the guy in front of u' one-line series of turns (though if u look back at some old races, im sure there are some fun finishes, maybe if one consults BJC he can direct u to a Wiki page dedicated to "Possibilities that would make moving the paddock to the National Pits Straight very exciting") There are good opportunities to outbrake somebody into Brooklands, and of course a bit of fairing-crowding out of Woodcote as they get on the throttle and drifted wide out of Luffield through Woodcote. You even could see them coming down the short Wellington Straight. (Though i suppose the same could be said about Vale if u sat at Club). I remember we sat at Woodcote for a long time because the action was so good, even a few riders made a few visits to the gravel. So i suppose making this the finish complex would be cool. Though i never sat in front of the "old" National Pits straight. So i have no idea what the viewing is there, but i can tell u, other than the -30 WCF blowing over the New Wing grandstands, the viewing there was Tip Top. The best part of course is u can see the hot pit, into the garages, and the grid form up (which is fun when, in Wsbk, we were treated to them grid up multiple times due to red flags & ....). U could see them come through Club and disappear out of Abbey. I can only go by TV regarding making Copse the new turn one, but i suppose this is a plus when u consider the proximity of Haven Burger stands behind Copse, Maggotts, & Becketts.

It doesn't bother me. Everytime we go and anywhere I sit, I can't see the track through the torrential rain

Call yourself a bike racing fan...you only been to Silverstone twice in 14 months...poor show, where's your commitment.

Copse is a great first corner, fast and swooping with plenty of tarmac run off.  I was stood there in 06 for WSBK, when Barros had to jump over a bike on fire sliding towards him.  Only problem is that it is furthest from campsite

Let's face it!

Those of us that are there will do the best available!

Some may moan about whatever!

And others will groan about summat!

And I'm no exception! Sometimes.

But rest assured we will all leave with a grin!

Cos we have seen what we came to see, nothing more nothing less! ;)

a bit of a stupid question, but how...lets say entertaining is the campsite? in relative terms to ankerberg perhaps ;)

Pipe n slippers dude,

You simply cannot compare ankerberg to shivers campsite.

Ankerberg is how it should be and Shivers is what a nanny country allows.

I loved ankerberg, even the nightmares I had for weeks after lol ;)

ok so should i expect you guys to compensate that or are you only inviting me to bring some nudity and profanity along with me?

don't make this sound like its not gonna be fun!?

Brother.

Was not ankerberg around our motor home not fun!?

I admit at times I was scared!

Especially when the security guard told Me n Matt to take our glorious flag off the fence for fear of the natives burning us to the ground!

Remember the burnt corpses of those port'a'shitta's!?

That could have been us FFS!

It will be fun of a friendly nature but a midnight shutdown.

Well maybe a rendition of Ilkley moor bar't at after hours if you're unlucky ;) eh Pete ;) lol

For sure you will need for nothing! And I mean nothing you desire.

EXCEPT MAYBE A ..... BAR THAT ONE WAS BARRED FROM PUTTING IN THE SACHSENRING THREAD COS WE NEVER WENT!

That aside you're sorted, trust me Bro' ;)

I am laughing my arse off right now, you are in sooo much trouble maybe!? ;)

Edit: Oh yeah just to make a point nudity and profanity in fcuking September!

You are joking right!

We don't live in the liberal countries like you're good selves over the water in mainland europe ;)
