Rant on...

Ya know...this whole silly season thing with contracts being signed in the middle of a season is just stupid as .... all. I can't think of many (if any) other seasonal sporting arrangement where this type of crap happens as usual course. Give the damn rider the opportunity to run his entire season and judge him on that record. Have contracts go from the start to the end of the calendar year but wait until the end of the season and use the last couple months of the year to figure out who goes where with what contracts.

Nobody remembers or gives a crap about the second half of last season...hell, you were likely riding for someone else and that is old news as far as anybody is concerned anyway and that performance doesn't mean crap in the new season...so you essentially only have what 9 races to prove anything at all...and if you get off to a bad start you are left .... for time to dig yourself out of a hole!? What the ....!?

Can you imagine any other sport where half way through the season people are signing contracts...many with their opposing teams (who you might still have to play against no less!)...how can the quality of play and integrity of the participants be assumed reliable given that situation. Poisoning the water with potential allegiance issues and not judging the rider by a season's worth of work just seems like stupidest thing I have ever heard of.

Rant off.

Rossi says he is undecided yet, but money isn't a factor.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/101519

Valentino Rossi says it is still "too early" for him to make a decision regarding his 2013 plans but expects to reach a conclusion during MotoGP's summer break.

The seven-time MotoGP champion had looked increasingly likely to stay put at Ducati, where he has struggled for success since joining at the start of 2011. But in recent weeks speculation about a return to the works Yamaha fold for Rossi has intensified, particularly after Ben Spies' shock announcement that he was quitting the team.

Rossi confirmed he was in advanced negotiations over a contract extension with Ducati, but underlined that he had alternatives.

"The situation is quite clear. I still haven't decided, because it's a bit too early," Rossi said.

"I spoke a lot with Ducati about next year and I'm still waiting about some of the details and some of the contract. I also have some other options."

After this weekend's Laguna Seca race, MotoGP takes a three-week pause before resuming with back-to-back events at Indianapolis and Brno.

Rossi believes his future will be settled by the time the series resumes in America in mid-August.

"I think the situation will be more clear in the next weeks and in the summer break I will decide for next year," he said.

Hayden is my favourite rider, but even I for the life of me can't understand why he continues to put up with the .... he's putting up with 'just to be in the elite' category.

Different buttons being pushed. Maybe he loves the life of a factory GP rider.

No doubt he gets his share of attention, got a nice pad in Italy, gets paid a shitload. Not a bad gig if you can get it.

No doubt he worked out years ago that he's not the fastest guy around - may as well get paid

Tony Elias (well, at least for this race)

Marc Marques (is he in MotoGP yet, well I guess, the contract is signed)

Jorge Lorenzo (not sure if hes 5.5 but if you consider weight, hes out)

Casey Stoner (even if he spikes his hair)

Hector Barbera (not sure if hes 5.5 either, but hes an ...)

Alvaro Bautista (no amount of hair spiking or styling will help)

Cal Crutchlow (yeah, big mouth, but sorry, not 5.5)

and...

Dani Pedrosa (even standing on Alberto Puig he still isn't 5.5)

Tony Elias (well, at least for this race) 5'4"

Marc Marques (is he in MotoGP yet, well I guess, the contract is signed) 5'7", but still growing.

Jorge Lorenzo (not sure if hes 5.5 but if you consider weight, hes out) 5'8"

Casey Stoner (even if he spikes his hair) 5'7"

Hector Barbera (not sure if hes 5.5 either, but hes an ...) 5'7"

Alvaro Bautista (no amount of hair spiking or styling will help) 5'6"

Cal Crutchlow (yeah, big mouth, but sorry, not 5.5) 5'7"

and...

Dani Pedrosa (even standing on Alberto Puig he still isn't 5.5) 5'3"

And how tall are you Junkie?? The average height in the US is 5'7", among your ethnic group, 5'5.5" (USCDC report, Nov 2010)

The latest Rossi news, if true this is going to be interesting because Rossi's crew has been very loyal to him.

That offer from Yamaha has '" we are really not that interested in having you back, but here is what we will do" written all over it. They made an offer to appease GP fans and Dorna, hoping Rossi's ego will not allow him to race for 1/4 of his normal salary. The crew thing was just another qualifier to get him to decline.

You think the Spies swing arm malfunction was meant to send him a message?

Neil Spalding twitter

Are you saying Furusawa is possibly going to Ducati so that Rossi will stay?” That's the plan! Now we wait for decisions!

The answer is from Spalding

would be quite sensible to rather hire furusawa to help preziosi instead of just upping the salary offer

This amount of unsubstantiated bollocks makes my head hurt.
