Should Yamaha Fire Rossi if he Doesnt Win the Title?

...................

Now, Lorenzo and Marquez at Ducati, that's I'd like to see. Or Lorenzo at Suzuki.

Lorenzo could find himself more at home on the Suzuki. Maverick Vinales says that it is impossible to use it effectively in a point and shoot way: it behaves very similar to the Yamaha.

What I would really like to see is Rossi on the new Ducati -- but that's impossible now.

Im at a loss for words, so if he doesn't mind, I will just steal Kropos words:

I'll bite - Why TF would you wish this on Rossi?? It's definitely less of a random-front-end-lose chassis than it was in Stoner's or even Rossi's time on it, but really?

Marquez, Pedrosa, Bradl and Bautista all begged Honda for one thing: a more usable engine, even if it came at the expense of horsepower. I sat in the room at Valencia as Shuhei Nakamoto told us the goal for 2015 was to make the bike more user friendly. HRC's engineers came back with an engine which is massively powerful, but terrible to use. It's fast, only you can't even use that speed, as the ...... won't grip. The best thing about that bike is the stability on the brakes, the rest of the bike is frankly rather ..... That's why the Honda riders keep falling off, they are trying to make up on the brakes what they are losing everywhere else.

Did you just mention the words 'Honda' and '....' in the same sentence? Please don't start this as a flame war again!! (I'm kidding, I know what context it's in).

Ask any rider/driver and given the choice they'll take a better chassis and weaker engine rather than a stronger engine and weaker chassis. I think the primary problem is Honda are mostly an 'engine' company. Sure they make cars and bikes (and very good ones at that) but I believe they spiritually are all about engines and making more and more power.

It does explain why a lot of the Honda off's this year have mostly been front end.

They only get it right very occasionally. Watch most races and the Yamaha gets off the corner better, as it has better mechanical grip. Pedrosa was getting off Turn 15 better than Rossi, but we don't know whether Rossi sacrificed something there to gain in another part of the track.

In previous years, the Honda killed the Yamaha out the corner every time. Not true any more.

How much of this is thanks to the seamles shift? Also from your site some Misano pics shows Lorenzo's (Wet) bike clearly having a longer swingarm than Rossi's. In simplistic terms this helps keep the front wheel down, so again is that part of it?

As for Rossi going back to Ducati, hahahaha! x 2. As said I think Lorenzo would do well on the Suzuki too and possibly the Aprilia but not on the Ducati and Honda. Marquez would be interesting on the Ducati if he lasted more then a lap without testing its gravel abilities.

It's not as if every Ducati now must be seen as Rossi's curse... This is a Ducati that turns, -- no understeer. The only thing it has in common with Preziosi's bike is that it has power to burn. I think Valentino could handle that.

I agree with most, Lorenzo would fail miserably on the Honda and the Ducati, the Zook hasn't got the mumbo yet, but maybe next year...

Marc would fair better on the Yamaha than Lorenzo on the Honda, but not too much. Rossi however would do ok on the Honda methinks.

But what of next year? Two more litres of fuel, new rubber, control ECU....who is going to fair best on those grippier rears from Michelin? I think Yamaha probably knows

Rossi on the Honda is a known quantity. For sure the bike now is different but the DNA is the same, it's been evolution more than revolution.

Just being semanticky and nerdy for the edification of other engineery nerds.
It's a sensible, though simplified description.

I see. I like to think of it as grip you have before you start ....... about with everything else.

Hence why tires heavily drive development (among other things). I cant think of any singular piece of hardware more important.

I said nothing about ducati / rossi /curse as I don't think that is the right way of looking at it, I only asked WTF you'd wish Rossi would go back to the still flawed macine that is Ducati.

For sure :D it turns, but as well as the Yamaha? I don't think so. Dovi seems to be a little lost in the wilderness, Crazy Joe seems to have matured but aint exactly threatening the podium. I still don't think the latest Ducati has what it takes and I doubt that at 36 yrs old Rossi is up for that particular challenge :).

The only thing one could hand the new ducati this year is its straight line pull. There's been a couple of races that it was absolutely unreal compared to any of the other bikes. Problem is it still doesn't turn as well as the honda or yamaha
