Sepang GP 2011: RACE

No, AGV has a special face and hair scanning tool. The interior of the helmet is custom, 3D designed to the rider's face and hair.

Besides, losing the helmet probably didn't matter.

I'm not putting up the youtube link, coz it's ....... horrible, but I think this will have enourmous ramifications for Edwards and Rossi. It's a horrible incident to watch.

This is terrible, i havn't seen the accident properly yet but the few images i've seen are horrible.

I feel gutted and i feel like ...., my condolences and my best regards go to all his relatives and friends.

We will all miss you. I wish this day never happened.

I have nothing to add. This is just awful. Just when the guy was starting to make it in GP too... I can't imagine Moto GP going on like normal after this.

RIP Marco.

Absolutely gutted. He was such a cool guy, so charismatic and a joy to watch on a bike.

The sport wont be the same without him and like others have said, things will change after this. Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

RIP Simo, you'll be missed

not to be morbid

i see ppl ask about the helmet

watched it in slow mo

for a split sec it seems Marco get under colins front wheel and slightly pinned him

it was Vales bike that hit him in the back of the neck/helmet and took his Helmet off

so sad

Just watch clip. Edwards hit him lower back and Rossi straight over his neck/head. Helmet was off immediately. Rossi was unsighted until last minute. Nothing could be done by either. Devastating. Rossi will never be the same. Marco is gone. Deepest sympathy for Rossi and Colin, there was nothing they could do.

I am all for the season being ended now.

Haven't seen it, don't want to see it, but seems similar to the unfortunate british guy in WSS a couple of years ago. If you come off a bike near the racing line at a high speed part of the track in close company there is nothing the following rider or riders can do, and nor can this type of incident ever be totally eliminated from bike racing.

Condolences to all who were close to marco. I agree the valencia race would seem meaningless/pointless now.

Watched it too. I'd like to think that wanting to understand what happened isn't 'morbid.'

Suspect the impact of Rossi's front wheel did bad things to Marco's spine / neck.

I can't imagine what Valentino must be feeling...

Call me a ..... if you will, but I actually shed a tear over this. Absolutely devastated. But I am also glad I got to say g'day to him last weekend at the island. Rip Marco.

the TV ppl wouldn't show replays Until the word came he's conscious ?

where did that come from The BBC showed a reply once that was suggested

like the #48tomisan crash so much conflicting info a BAD BAD Day for the powers that be and the sport

800's safer uh ? Corner speed you fools

I was enjoying our sons 19th having my family over enjoying the time and turned my back keeping an eye for the gp start - warm up came up and he with my no2 11yr old went inside to watch hopefully another great show by Casey, we couldn't believe what happened for as we know it it was't a usual accident once you see the terrible sight of a helmut rolling along - after seeing 2-3 replays I reacted in pain for Simo and my 11yr old turned to me starting to cry for he could feel my pain I cried with him knowing my boy was feeling the pain of a rider he has watched with me since he came on the scene.

We are so gutted we can only imagine how all the fellow gp riders must feel and further more Simos family and friends.

RIP mate we will keep thinking of you and your classic interviews I'm so sorry this happened - forever young !

Nothing to do with 800's. Was corner exit not mid corner. Could of happened on a 125. Freak accident. Looked like he couldn't get off the bike which I have no doubt he was trying to do.

It has been suggested that electronics could have been responsible for both Lorenzos and Spies crashes at Phillip Island - the rear of Jlo's bike was gripping and then releasing which caused the pumping motion that threw him over the bars....I wonder if something similar caused the sudden grip that sent Marco spearing into the path of the other riders.

It was certainly a very strange low side - a freak accident that could have happened to any of the riders out there and a reminder to everyone just how much these guys put it on the line for us and how brave and fearless they all are.

I am stunned and saddened by this incident and feel for his family and friends and the entire racing community. MotoGP can ill afford this sort of tragedy at the present time.

I wonder if testing there tomorrow will also be cancelled in light of what has happened. As Gaz said race direction did the right thing in stopping the race so it may be in the sports best interests to also cancel the tests as well.

RIP Marco.

i just don't understand, how could the tyre grip again and send him right into valentino and colin?

this is just terrible ...
