Nothing like Asian Race Queens!

Thanks for sharing, looks like you had a wonderful time! Any wet Tshirt contests after the monsoon?

I'll assume the pretty lady is ur wifey. She is not only cool for pimping u out to the promo girls, but she has a real eye for talent! A women after my own heart. What a fantastic bigger than life picture of Nicky and his Tissot. Real poetry man!

Last pic was taken on our exit of the circuit... I couldn't resist the shot of the young ladies with the monsoon gushing in the background!!

Jum. Yes that is my lovely and talented wife and soul mate, I consider myself a lucky guy!

So the story behind the photo of Nicky starts almost a lifetime ago when I met my brother-from-another-mother, one Danno Robinson. I'm not sure how life deals out family and friends in our various lives but Danno and I had to brothers in another lifetime. Two tall, lanky, big nosed drug addicts, ice hockey goalies, music and motorcycle freaks that life brought together at the age of 13. We built his '85 Interceptor 750 superbike and my '86 RZ350 racebike together. I crewed for him and he for me. We've ridden most of NA together (at least until Uncle Sam deemed both of us personna non grata in the good ol' USofA -LOL). We did the last 500 GP at 'Guna together, well you get the picture!

Years pass and 2002 rolls around. Late night nock at my door and there's Danno, bags in hand, telling me Mrs. Danno is done with him and can he bunk in for a few weeks while he gets his .... together. Well a few weeks turns into a year plus of having a house guest which, even if it is your brother-from-another-mother, can be trying at times and, I guess, especially for a better half who wasen't quite prepared for a house guest who never leaves!!

Anywho, MotoGP and F1 weekends were always an event at the homestead... TV dragged outside (weather permitting) and the 'friendly' banter begins between Mrs. Mick (yellow-blooded Rossi fan) and Danno (former Doohan fan, current Nicky freak). 2006 was a seminal year as Mrs. Mick and Danno go at it all season long!

The photo of Mrs. Mick kissing Nicky was a gift for Danno.

I like the little fella with the leathers, very cool.
Chatted with the boy for a few minutes... Apparently there were lots of national series running races early in the morning (long before we got to the track... Drinking until 2-3 am will do that!!) and the lad was racing in a peewee class! Good to see the Spanish aren't the only ones developing young talent!!

So off we went to the Sepang round. Had a few acquaintances going and wanted to join in the tribute to Simoncelli. Book our flights and rooms just on Wednesday prior to the race... Leave Phuket Saturday morn and back Sunday night. Being me and having my child-like excitement when traveling I only slept a hour Friday night. Up at 5am and off to the airport at six. Flight leave at 8:20am. Hour and a half flight, plus one hour on time difference arrive in Malaysia at about 11am, clear customs and grab a cab to the track, which is only about ten to fifteen minutes from the airport. Walk the concours, watch the qualifying for all classes then cab to our hotel in Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur, about an hour away.

Check in and get settled then out to find our friends at a hotel nearby. We missed them and as it turns out they were at our hotel looking for us while we were at theirs! So, friendless, we head off for some dinner then off to the fantastic walking market, Jalan Petaling, in Chinatown. After an hour of so of shopping its now about nine, nine thirty and I'm getting tired and grumpy so we stop for drinks before heading back to the hotel. Sitting at the outdoor bar/cafe for about fifteen minutes and Lise has to head off to the ladies room. So as I sitting there by myself with all our stuff on the table, Lise's drink in front of here chair two large Germans come by and go to join to other Germans already seated near us. As the one Guy goes by he grabs Lise's chair and starts to drag it away. Being in the tired grumpy mood I was, "Hey, ......, two drinks, two people, pretty simple no?", was what spewed forth from my mouth! As I grabbed at the chair to pull it back the ....'s friend grabs it as well and just starts to pull it very strongly away... I guess I was in a worse mood than even I thought but I didn't get up or say anything I just gave then a glaring look but was thinking, "this ain't gonna happen tonight cock-suckers I'll rip you both apart", next thing I know they both back off and go and quietly sit down. But my heart's a-beating fast! Lise returns I tell her the story and say lets just finish up and get the .... outta here.

Sixty seconds later a a group of four guys just come a plop themselves down at our table. Tasmanians apparently. With lots of booze apparently. Well these guys were just so real and having so much fun it was hard not to get caught up their exuberance! All the tiredness and grumpiness fell away and we joined in the merrymaking! Two more Tasmanians showed up a little later and we kept it going until 2am. Thank god for Tasmanian wild-men... They turned our night around!! They gang is in Phuket later this week and at some point I invited the six pack of Tasmanian Devils over to party at our place... That should be fun!

Sunday morning we hooked up with our friends, had some breaky and grabbed a cab to the track. It was 39 Celsius when we left for the hour long ride. Guess what? About two thirds of the way their, in an unmoving traffic jam, the taxi's air con dies!! Four of us and the driver in a tin oven baking for the next half hour!! Great start of the day.

Track temp at the start of Moto3? Fifty-freaking-nine Celcius!! Khairuddin's amazing race in Moto3 was fantastic. Then soaked to the bone before Moto2. Moto2 starts, delayed, and after Wilairot crashed out on the third lap we followed the young (18) Malay wild card rocket up from 27th to first... Cue crowds going WILD!! Unfortunately he faded a bit but finished an amazing fourth!

We all know how MGP went... Wet to wetter! Hoofed it a couple of kms to the taxi stand thinking it was the start of forty day and nights and I was glad I had friends with boats. At the taxi stand the tout was only taking rides to KL and we just wanted to go to the airport a few kms away. .... him - we just started off down the line of cabs asking the drivers to take us, someone would. Sure enough number twenty or so in line said sure and off we went to the airport of nordic air con soaking wet like sheepdogs in a Yukon car wash. Of course the fight was delayed by the weather! So we are now home safe and sound with wicked colds and great memories for our troubles!
