So what you are suggesting is that a patch and ball smoothbore gun was better than a riffled miniball gun?

Stupid data usage Pete.

What language are you speakin there Berry? Look mate, you got rumbled, you are no as thick as you make out so please, don't slip back to penguin mode. It doesn't suit a fellow scot like you

Its not just age that causes "things" to get superseded Pete. Sometimes a new "thing" comes out with new features that surpass or usurp the previous best. Thats what has happened to Rossi.

All I'm doing is quoting undisputable facts Berry, no what if, if only or any o the imaginary pish that some folk spout.

But you knew that

As much as karma's a ....., I actually feel very sorry for Rossi.

He is one of the best ever (possibly THE best ever), and he has been through a pretty tough year, and with no sign of things getting better. He is carrying a lot of hope and expectation, and probably starting to realise he will not be able to deliver on the expectation.

But in saying that, the guy is getting paid Euro 20.0m a year to race motobikes (that is Euro 54,800 every day).

Ok, sympathy over !!!!!

Just had a thought regarding Rossi ............. didn't he break up with Marwa about the time things were getting worse?

Rossi was the best of an era. That era was 990's. A period that spanned 5 years. He was completely dominant in that era and won all but 1 WC. His career also spanned another era, the 800's. During this era he was not the dominant rider. Of the 5 WC's on offer he won 2.

To be the greatest ever surely you must dominate all of the era's that you competed in.

Rossi was the greatest 990 rider of all time.

Stoner was the greatest 800 rider of all time.

Lets see who is going to be the greatest 1000 rider of all time.

ahh..for both Rossi vs Stoner..another 2 weeks before the 2nd round we already bitching about Casey arm pump and Rossi lack of motivation to ride Ducayama

If Rossi quits mid season what effect will that have on his legacy?

Even more tainted than already or no effect?

I don't consider myself a Stoner fan, but I do believe in what Bunyip says about karma. For years Vale has been perceived as part Godlike, and part saint. However, he has a dark side that reveals itself from time to time. And NOBODY can negotiate with karma, not even the great Rossi. For example, when he beat Stoner in that classic dual at Laguna in 2008, Stoner obviously acted in an immature way by having a cry after the race for what he believed was dangerous riding by his opponent. So, the cunning Rossi, knowing full well what the hot headed Stoner would do, extended his arm for a handshake in front of the camera with Stoner. Sure enough, Stoner declined, making Rossi look like the good guy as usual. But sneaky and vindictive acts come back at people. His over-inflated ego and contempt of other riders is catching up with him. I can understand why many of his fans can't see this because of his charisma and legend status. But he is a mere human being with human flaws. We should not forget this. Also, we should not forget he has won 7 major titles, and can ride like the wind!

Only a prick would have shaken Rossis hand after Laguna 2008. Same as Jerez 2011. It was ........ riding and should not be encouraged.

It is vaguely possible that rossi fans thinking he is a prick is not a matter of overwhelming concern to him.

Indeed, one could think its "par for the course" for just about any bopper.

And as usual Stoner has answered with his riding. He is no clown. He speaks his mind. And he doesn't play the silly "appearance game" if he does not think something is right.

Shaking Rossi's hand in the situations described would have been insincere and degrading.

It baffles me the mentality that some folk have that would have expected, even wanted, Stoner to act in such a pathetic manner as to shake Rossi's hand, but ........ the world is made up of many types.

The request to shake hands was merely a game to please Rossi anyway ........ request was denied. Wisely.

Ha Ha! I love the way you guys rise to it every time.

Just remember, it's better to be losing races due to the aging, rather than dairy products.

Best excuse ever.
