Rossi - where will he finish in 2011?

when hes on a mission hes by far the most spectaculer rider to watch from a racing point of view and stoner the best rider to watch for blazing consistant laps when hes out front, barry and a few others will dissagree but thats thier opinion.

I'd like to take up that option!

To me Rossi is of very simillar styel to Melandri. When he came into MGP he bored the socks off me and he still rides like the bike is just going round by itself.

Tell you what though, I am looking forward to him riding the Duc. before they stuff it further, we may see him ride with effort, he has actually said he needs to change his style ( duh
<
) but lets see if he can.

If you ride depending on the bike to get you round, it will look like he has so far ........ if he rides it like a brumby .... he may get there. But sadly he has never ridden like that before.

As I recall rossi put it down a few times in his first season in the premier class on a honda.

Stoner 's premier class record imo shows more that he will go for the win regardless of whether his bike is capable of it rather than that he is a chucker per se . As others have recently said his overall dnf rate in the 800 formula is similar to the other top riders. He made no significant riding error at all in 2007, when someone (I can't quite recall his name) said he "rode like a god". He made 1 riding error in 2009, at a time when all you guys said it would be meaningless if he won the race concerned, and when a tyre was not warmed in the pits. . Last year he won races on a bike your favourite rider understandably doesn't want to push within seconds of his (stoner's) pace, pretty clearly because he considers it to be unstable. I can see strategic sense in his win it or bin it approach in the second half of last year, he needed to demonstrate his pace to honda apart from anything else given that even the composition of this year's factory team was undecided. When he had his 2 dnfs in 2008 anything less than a win was fairly useless to him as well. Surely as a valentino fan you would not object to a rider going for the win rather than settling for a safe place in any case
<
.

As kropotkin implies where valentino finishes this year depends almost entirely on ducati. If they can "fix"the bike, which it looks unlikely they can do quickly at this point in time, he will finish first or second. If it is fundamentally flawed he will finish 4th or 5th, but 1st or 2nd next year.

Dammit Michael.............you,ve been stealing my thoughts again!

Top 6 methinks.

Will Rossi win a race this year? He's up against some pretty stiff competition, he hasn't tested enough, his shoulder isn't 100% yet, he still doesn't have the right leathers yet cause he's always picking his undies out off his ..., nicky & rossi have a tiff the wall is reinstated so no sharing data , he could ask his mate begbie to throw it down the road a couple off times this year which shouldn't be a problem , Excuses?? I bet there is some one on the pay roll @ducati just thinking this .... up, but of course this is a learning year for the Rossi/Ducati marriage and next year he will win with the 1000cc desmosedici. Or maybe uncle carmelo can help out??

Your should contact Ducati, and pass on your wisdom Barry.

I'm sure they would have you over there in a heatbeat - probably pay you as much as Rossi and JB, so you can give Rossi the guidance he so obviously needs, to help him go fast on the Ducati.

Put on your flame suit again !!!!

If Rossi doesn't know what tto do by now ........ I'm afraid I can't help him

Besides as I have said ......... Rossi already realises he needs to change his style .....

its up to him, lets see if he can do it, its new territory for him but as the old saying goes ........ you are never too old to learn.
<

i think the yamaha riders will crash sometime trying to keep up with the hondas and the battle for number 1 spot at HRC will result in some crashes for them as well, that will buy Vale some time to get up to speed , he will end up 2nd or 3rd but come 2012 and 1000cc and he'll be champion

........ you are never too old to learn.

apparently YOU are!

There's going to be a test after Mugello right?

I'll bet Rossi has set a goal to win or be on the podium at Mugello.Maybe he has figured the Duc out by then.

If he's lucky and the others spread the wins among them the first half of the season,

MAYBE 4th

Nice first post!! Can you do another one when you get out of kindergarten? One that makes some sense? Give me your address and I can send you some crayons, which, hopefully will help you find your voice.

Son of Doohan is there any need to be an ...??

Sure I'll give you my address and you could come over and I'll make you eat the crayons lol

Calm down big toe lol chill...

If you can have opinions you should take an opinion.

Don't talk rubbish and there's no need to respond.

It was just in response to your post , you took it thick lol

Not to mention that there is more star quality on the grid now.

Stoner, Pedrosa, and Lorenzo all came into the sport knowing Rossi is their target. They have all had to up their game to the level where they are capable of beating Rossi. Rossi isn't getting any worse, his competition has just been forced to get a lot better.

This is the fate of all champions: If you want to be the champ, you have to beat the champ. Even when the champ is a legend.

Just knock on my door, c'mon, please

He'll finish 5th at best.

That Duke just doesn't cut it obviously but the wiley old fox will wring it's neck I'm sure. It'll take him some time to get a handle on the beast.

Perfect summation .......... which kinda lends to the practice of Quitting whilst you are winning, ala Doohan. hence there is always a mystique/myth that you would never be beaten.
<

But you know I admire Rossi for staying on ..... win or not ........ he's still bucketloads better than many riders in GP

I wouldn't even attempt to go near there Jono, for fear of death!

The snakes up there are massive! I mean I don't mind my deadly snakes to be tiny ..... so you can say "what that little thing !!??", but the snakes up there are as fat as you arm! ( only joking .... at least they are visible
<
, not like the sneaky little toolbox squatters round my way!

)

Bray Park Andy!!! lovely neck of the woods ....... especially the run up the hill to Federal way.

Doohan didn't "choose" to retire. That final crash at Jerez was just one too many.

Hey! I did say there was a lot of Mystique and myth ........ now leave me to the "retirement" of Doohan as I drea ......... see it!
<
<

Which is something we may be discussing at the end of this year ...... would Rossi have been better off ( mystique/legendwise) if he had quit when he broke his leg rather than going to Duc. ?
