Seeing as though he's regarded as the GOAT by many, I thought I'd do a specific Rossi poll.l I think this season will be a turning point in his career, whatever that may be.

And seeing as though his fans seemingly have no idea
<
, and basically think the whole motorcycle racing world begins and ends with #46, I thought he may as well have his own poll.

Long winded answers are welcome, especially when you're coming up with excuses as to why he didn't win the WC in 2011!!!

Except the poll didn't work, but it doesn't matter. Just put down a position......

Personally, I think, 7th.

not sure where he finish on the duc but it does not look like it will be top 3 . but lets see how far he cam bring the duc on and i think by mid season that will be a long way ready to kick ... in 2012 on the 1000 cc's . or maybe i'm just being hopeful

copypasta from a previous post in another thread:

....Rossi: Recently, it seems that I have more faith in him than some of his fans. Fair enough, he most likely will not dominate this season. He may not even win a race until quite late, maybe not at all. But he may be smart enough to swallow his pride and pick up all the points he can while the other top riders might make each other life hell. In this way, I even think he has an outside chance of becoming world champion again. He'd have to get up to at least fifth places regularly from the word go though. On the other hand, I can also see a worst case scenario unfolding for him: being unable to match even some of the 'lesser riders' (© J. Burgess) might be a very bitter pill, especially on a bike that somebody else won on a few months ago. Rossi may then start pushing more than he should. Good chance he'll fold the front than and once that happens once or twice, we may get a Melandri-esque loss of confidence and matching results. Which would probably be a career-ender.

5th. They're going to take the first half of the season to make the Ducati rideable, then he'll be on a mission.

Valentino Rossi is the racer the got me watching this in the first place. I woke up early one morning and MotoGP was on T.V. and he was the only name I knew. I have grown to watch it more and more.

I believe that The Doctor WILL win the 2011 Championship. No, he didn't win the 2011 Championship - everyone has a fall and he did, that is why he did not win, because he was out with injury.

Rossi will have to push very hard just to match Stoner's times from last year, while the Yamaha and especially the Honda have taken a step forward from last year, in which they were already a better bike than the Duck.

Rossi is too used to winning so a run of hard times might have him looking for an out.

I think he'll be too far behind at the summer break to take fifth, but ducati will have spent BILLIONS so maybe.....

first half of the season : maybe 6th or 7th behind the repsols and factory yamahas, maybe even behind simoncelli, edwards, aoyama.

after the summer he'll come good and in the end finishes....5th or 6th in the championship

Top 5. He's not a crasher so will make it up on consistency. I think he may make the podium somewhere in second half of season.

Confusing.

Anyway, top 5. (btw, I could swear i saw a thread just like this one somewhere...)

The pessimest in me says 6th

The optimist says 5th

The realist must take on board an experts opinion................so Krops take is very interesting.

I think we all agree that the first half of the season could be quite ugly for Ducati. I,m not sure how dramatic the turn around will be. If, the Ducati has a fundamental design flaw,as many have conjectured, Rossi won,t be competitive at all in 2011. Could he bury his pride and phone Casey for tips on how to ride the thing??

I made the point in the other thread that the winner would be decided in the first half of the season, and that will not be Rossi.

Without research what I predict is that take the place of the highest Poocati in the previous seasons (all 800 seasons) excluding Stoner then add three places and that is his finish position.

He may just surprise us yet at the final test because like him or net you can NEVER EVER underestimate him or JB.

3rd

I don't think their problems will be quite as bad as they have seemed recently, also i think of all the potential front runners it is a safe bet that few of them will have a clean season.

5th at best. Some time around the 4th race of the season, expect to see Uccio

paying discreet visits to Stoner's caravan with a list of questions in his hand.

This is of course again very premature pre-Qatar test, obviously some want to continue the GOAT/fan bashing after Sepang, what you lot need to understand is this guy has a record far beyond any current competitor-the same goes for his fanbase, he has proven, many times well against the odds, that he can turn it around on race day. A couple of bad tests doesn't even factor for a rider and team with the Talent, experience and expertise of Rossi. and his crew. I know many here are praying to see him fail to justify their opinions on his success.

Mark my words, VR will be vying for the title by seasons end, I agree with Tom-the problems aren't as big as most here are hoping
<
......also for the simple reasons that others have already pointed out-consistency.

All the top Honda boys will have their respective moments of speed and victory, but ultimately they will trip each other up and especially with Stoner and Pedders, will suffer several offs in key rounds which will ultimately give away their advantage, and if problems with the Honda surface, well we know how well they listen to rider feedback.....

IMO also Jorge will also be right there, the Yamaha will shine again at several tracks and I believe this season could be a repeat of the closeness of 2009 with Stoner and Pedders added to the mix.
