Yup. Shovelheads post #11 gave rossi's response.

; but I have to be competitive, so I will

decide next year.

I did not say I want to stop riding. In fact, I hope to

ride for another two or three years. Clearly, I'm interested in being

competitive, because I want to keep winning,"

The two statements are completely different. The first one says if im not competitive next year, im gone even though i want to ride a few more years.

The second statement says i want to ride for a few more years and hope to be competitive. The big question is ,what do you consider competitive Valentino. Will 4th in the championship with 1 win and 3 - 4 podiums convince him he is competitive. I say he will hang around as long as Yamaha will keep signing him

.... Pov, you're a pedantic ....! Read it however you like but if he's not doin' better than fourth all year he's gone.

When you talk so much ........ it becomes hard to keep track of all the lies and you end up getting caught out....Rossi should quit racing and enter politics as he is perfect for the job.

Gut feeling. All that stuff about how Rossi will ride a bit longer and make a decision to ride depending on how competitive he is

is horseshit. He doesn't want to day that Yamaha will give him the boot when the contract is up. Lorenzo needs someone to be

to him what Pedrosa is to Marquez, and Rossi is no longer up to the task.

What I would love to see Kesh is both Rossi and Pedro replaced with Redding and Espagaro....bring on the new blood I say as the other two have had their time in the sun and the series needs some excitement injected into it - look at what Marquez did for the racing this year.

Here we go again. So you want to replace 2 of the best riders the sport has ever seen just so you can see something new. Doesnt matter that neither of those riders are in the same universe as the one you want to replace.

Thats just pure speculation on your part....Marquez gave Pedro a riding lesson this year and Pol and Scott arent that far behind MM IMO.

Pedro has had 8 years Pov and not returned a title....he is a great rider but he just doesnt have that last few percent. I would, however, love to see Dani ride for Suzuki - if they can field a competitive bike he could do well on it - and it would be far more interesting for the series to have a competitve Zook on the grid that could win a race or two dont you think?

Rossi yes but Pedro one of the best riders the sport has ever seen.......pullllllease tell me your joking...and Rossi is past his use by date now.

While the nasty part of me would enjoy watching Yamaha toss Rossi under the bus (Karma's a ....., Valentino!), I don't think either of the above would prove to be any faster out of the box.  Give Espagaro a year, then we'll talk.

Love the midget or not, bumping Peddles makes zero sense whatsoever.  The little ...... is insanely fast.  I honestly think he'll blossom (OK, perhaps too strong a word, but it's all I can come up with.) once out of Darth Puig's shadow.

You heard it here first - Pedrosa will win the 2014 title!  :D

I am thinking more for 2015 than next year as all contract are up for grabs then and Zook will be back then....

TBH I thought Dani would win in 2011 or 2012 but again he dissapointed. He sure is fast on his day but I reckon the planets need to align for him too often to win a title. I wouldnt be suprised if he did snag one though before he calls it a day.

I am going to sound like Jum here, but I think VRs retirement plans are being put on hold to see what Bridgestone come up with, with their so-called new tyre strategy, it wont be the first time he has had his own tyres.

You're being pedantic. You would be interested if you had to achieve something to continue. You're putting to much on a word or phrase with the same spirit in the meaning. Bear in mind these statements were probably translated as well. English is not Rossi's first language you know ?

I wondered if anyone was going to see it. Rossi retirement talk after next year, reasons for retiring, not competitive, reason for bot being competitive, lack of tire choice that fits his needs, Bridgestone announces work on more and better tire choices.

I agree with this, and I think eight years ago Bridgestone would happily have accomodated him, but I think the days of Vale getting custom-made tires are long over. Bridgestone has no reason to tailor their development around the fourth-best rider on the grid, given the near-universal perception that he's well past his prime.

What blows my mind about this article is Rossi saying it's the tires' fault that he's not as fast as he used to be. For anyone who's ever claimed that custom tires are the reason Rossi was so fast, that's just fresh ammo.

One of, no im not joking. There is a long long long list  of people in sports history who are considered hall of famers, legends, whatever, that never won championships in their sport. I dont like the little ...., but i dont let that get in the way of reality. He is tied for 7th all time in wins and i think 4th all time in podiums with 84.  Was Dan Marino a great quaterback, was Charles Barkley a great power forward. Sure were, but never won a title.
