DID I HEAR RIGHT THAT COLIN MAY RIDE FOR THE INJURED ROSS. CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME. WOULD COLIN RIDE ROSSI'S BIKE. WILL IT GET ROSSI POINTS?. HOW DOE'S THIS WORK.

I NEED MORE INPUT.

THANX R-46

If Edwards rides for Fiat Yamaha...he will keep any points he earns, the manufacturer points earned will be kept my Fiat Yamaha (unlike with a wildcard racing that bike for Fiat Yamaha). Edwards, does have the most experice and who probably make the transition over to the factory ride the smoothest. I think Fiat Yamaha will want someone who can step in and get the bike around the track to keep the sponsors happy......and maybe Jeremy Burgess/crew can be the factor to get Colin Edwards over the hump and finally win a race (Assen and Laguna are coming up and he has raced well at both).

Rossi can not collect any points from another rider just because his bike and team are used for the race by another rider.

No more points for The Doc this season.

I like Colin very much, both as a racer and a person. He has a ton of experience, no doubt, and may make the smoothest transition to the factory ride, but put Spies on the bike! I feel he has the most potential and is currently adapting to MotoGP, might as well let him adapt on the best bike available. He's going to end up with a factory ride eventually so turn him loose now, sit back and watch the lap times fall as he figures it all out.

Get well soon Val, it ain't the same without #46.

got to be ben spies ,

I guess it comes down to who is allowed to ride the bike in Rossi's absence. Spies is under a Yamaha contract but the rookie rule may hold him back. Edwards is under a Tech 3 contract so they would need to give permission for him to ride the Fiat Yamaha.

It is all up in the air at this point.

Pies cant take the seat..

give it Colin then Crutchlow to Tech ....

I'm not sure its clear whether Spies can fill the seat as a replacement or not. My understanding of the rookie rule is that it precludes rookies from being a contracted rider for a factory team but does not specifically preclude rookies from replacing injured factory team riders. Hmmm, we'll know soon enough...

Collin was Rossi's teammate for a while on the factory yamaha, as much as I like him he never did much and I Think he shouldn't replace Vale. Spies is the future,so They should try and go with him if possible. Japanese test rider would suck!!!!

What's all this talk about spies. He cant take rossi's seat. ROOKIE RULE you morons
<
why cant some of you get your heads arouind this. I would not be surprised if they dont replace rossi and instead focus purley on Lorenzo's championship run.

As for someone else riding rossi's bike and rossi getting the point

Are you ....... serious R ? jeez, you have followed the sport long enough to know the answer to this stupid question. If anyone will ride the Fiat yam i think it will have to be CE2 as he is not a rookie and already a yam employee.

Before all the pie lovers get all hot under the collar saying ce2 does not deserve it cos he has been slow, well spies aint been a lot faster .

Alex Briggs just posted on Twitter saying that the VR side of the garage wont be at Silverstone or Assen but they will be back for Barcelona working with another rider to be confirmed by Yamaha in the future.

I might be wrong Rog but what i have heard so far is that Yamaha is under contract with dorna to field two riders, i think they can have another race with one rider but they have to replace Rossi at Assen though.

Take it from someone who finds ways around the rules all the time, Theres always an exception. If suzuki got Bautista in why can't Spies have a few Runs on the Factory bike it's not like he's going to finish the season on it, Maybe I should talk to Carmelo myself

If that's the case and yam still only field the one bike it may incur a financial penalty. Yam will weigh up their options. Fielding another rider could cause more problems than it solves, especially with the engine rule. All yam need is a rookie or new rider to waste rossi's engines and .... about with his bike making rossi's comeback even harder for him.

Not fair on the other rookies. He he does get some rides on the factory bike he should be excluded from the rookie of the year award.

I've just read on MM that McCoy got free from FB and I can only agree with the first comment there, I would love to see his coming back for a few races. Spies to the factory team (he could support Jorge more in taking places away from the opponents) and Gazza to Tech3. I'd prefer having him on Rossi's bike but that's not gonna happen for sure. I know he's not a spring chicken any more and may not be that fast any more, but he would bring back some good old feeling.
<

My other choice would be Bayliss...oh man, too many reasons why not gonna happen but that would be BIG.

Please Yamaha bring us some entertainment and not a test rider or a rookie!

right on cue with the Spies hate. like clockwork.

Suzuki is exempt from the rookie rule because there are no privateer teams using a Suzuki. that is why Bautista signed with them because he wanted to go straight to a factory team.
