rossi now blaming the electronics !!!

Does make the seasons more interesting though :)

It doesn't make it more interesting for me. I'm a fan of riding talent and the engineering.

Limiting the testing doesn't do anything except make the bikes worse. It's a ........ fake limitation thrown in there, probably by Honda, to .... with other companies so they can't compete. I hate it. Same with spec tires. .... that. Let em run whatever they want.

Let's see who wins if we .... with the tires. ......... It's not a better show, it's .........

Ya, you have to have limitations so the guy with the most money doesn't win everything, so a spec ECU or other standard items are inevitable but it goes too far.

Let's get some racers on hot bikes and get out there, not some faked up crap with 'a great show' and guaranteed no hurt feelings and everyone gets to wave their favourite flag!!

What's next? We've already got 'Top Non Factory Guy' when do we start having participation trophies?!?!!

Totally agree with this, there's no innovation, I miss the days of mad bikes and cars, even if they were an utter failure.

Also Marquez won back to back titles on a screamer engine with .... electronics and a big bang engine. The kid can adapt to anything.

Without getting into the difference between versions of the RCV and there is some big difference in how Marquez is riding the different bikes IMO. He went from a 125 2 stroke and if not for a stupid decision by him and his team would've won in the championship in his first year on the bike, he then won on his first year in MotoGP. To say that he needs to ride another manufacturer to prove he can adapt is ridiculous, don't forget the rationale behind Rossi's distant 4th in 2013 was that he had to adapt from the Ducati back to the Yamaha. Conveniently forgetting that Marquez had to adapt much more from a moto2 bike.

Winning breeds confidence, after 2 barren years on the Ducati there had to be a period of rebooting.

And Burgess.

Rossi wasn't the only one who took a serious confidence boost throughout 2011 and 2012.

As much as people say that Rossi lost it, Burgess did not achieve that which he stated he would and could so he was somewhat found as well

I still think that rossi achieved more with Burgess than the new guy.

Absolutely agree although there are some in this and other forums who feel that the new guys has been as successful, but success is measured in results and they are somewhat incomparable

What they've done to WSBK is what's next. They've done everything but force Rea to ride blindfolded in their attempts to manipulate the championship.

I had heard to Jerry was a little behind on the electronics side of things, which was increasingly becoming an issue, but I can't now recall where I heard that so it could quite possibly be balls

If Rossi wanted to keep going, he had to change. Jerry thought he should retire, and was fairly openly saying so.

Jerry may have been correct of course.

And in answer to Barry's original post, history will remember Rossi very kindly, if not as quite so utterly golden as would have been the case if he had retired at the end of 2009. I don't think the last 9 years have done anything to enhance his reputation, and he possibly won't be remembered as clearly superior to other greats of the sport as would have been the case then, or as being totally ice cool and imperturbable.

Not forgetting the wooden spoon for failing. Its one reason F1 is .... now, the cars look like dinky toys and ego driven morons driving them.

Wow, I see what you mean, not surprised Loeb and co have taken a back seat over the last few years, must feel like racing slot cars.
