rossi now blaming the electronics !!!

Meregalli, Rossi and Vinales have all said multiple times that they have analyzed Zarco’s data, but could not do much with it as he has an entirely different style and is smaller and lighter than both the factory riders.

Which (IMO) is an aspect so often over-looked by the watchers and an aspect I believe that Rossi himself learnt over recent years due to the 'competitors' having raised the bar and thus, where in years back he could make the difference, now he needs all to work to be competitive.

No slight on him at all as all riders will use electronics in a way that suits their styles which afterall is how they should be used .............. to gain an edge for that rider

I agree.

I am of the old school where the rider should make the most difference though (My right foot is still my wheelie control). The first gen 4 strokes had less electronics in them than a Ninja 300 of today and the riders made all the difference. The 800s and then the 1000s stepped up the electronics game in a big way and while the riders still mean a lot, it is also down to who has the smartest engineers backstage. Almost F1-ish, if you ask me.

That said, I do appreciate the positives that electronics have brought . There are far fewer high sides these days for example, most crashes are caused by the front letting go (human torpedoes excluded).

This is because they can't say, or maybe even acknowledge, that Zarco as of right now is simply a faster rider than them. Wasn't Rossi like the cleanest, best at tire-saving rider evah?? Wasn't Vinales "the new Marquez"?

I'm not saying the factory Yamaha doesn't have issues, but Vinales, I'm starting to think, probably isn't the phenom that a lot people thought he was and Rossi, very obviously, simply isn't competitive enough to win a title.

Oh btw:
Vinales's height: 1.71cm Vinales's weight: 64kg
Zarco's height: 1.71cm Zarco's weight: 66kg

Oh btw, part 2:

Meregalli is a pretentious lying ....... :D

Rossi has never claimed to be the smoothest or cleanest rider. He brakes late and hard, which has been his style over years. This was best seen when he and Lorenzo were battling.

Vinales has an even more aggressive style, doing all the braking before the corner. Something Iannone tried a lot to replicate last year and failed.

Zarco’s style is a lot more fluid than either of those two.

And sure, I will take the word of “Holypuck” over Massimo Meregalli’s.

I knew you were a wise dude, deep down

And I have the beard to prove it!
Wise people have beards, right?

No, that is wizards.

Wise people wear glasses (black rimmed, approx 4 millimetres thick), brown shirts (tucked in), brown pants, brown socks, brown shoes, white y-fronts and part their hair.

Hang on, that is accountants, sorry

And how anyone can post about electronic deficiencies and not remember Marquez lossing races to Yamahas because his rear tire was spinning instead of him going forward is beyond me, too. Did he ..... about it? I do not remember.

Full disclosure: I have never programmed a motorcycle traction control. I do not claim to be a genius like Synn. However, I have programmed several ECUs for hot-rods and motorcycles. And the maps are all dependent on the size of the chips and number of sensors. Some have a dozen criteria to map.

Well said. Honda were the ones really penalised by the switch to the spec ECU because they were the ones not using MM electronics. Yamaha were fine with the spec ECU in 2016 when they were wiping the floor with Honda on acceleration, they got complacent which is why they are where they are now.

As you say, maps are dependent on the number of chips and sensors but it also ties into a number of other things such as fueling tables and mechanical limitations such as the position of the injector nozzles relative to the combustion chamber. Fueling tables can be a nightmare too, because while the base ecu map will allow x amount of fueling for the maximum power you want (in this case WOT), the issue most likely lies within the mid and lower ranges of the tables where fueling crosses over with power AND torque and no matter how much data you have, sometimes getting those number right for a single application, let alone the variables of a racing bike, can be a nightmare.

Unfortunately it seems that Yamaha are in the situation now that Honda were in in 2015, whereby mechanically they are stunted by the rules, and they cannot adjust the mappings enough to compensate for it. I can't see them fixing it this season tbh.

Except that Mr Synn is incorrect in his statement, because Zarco and Vinales are exactly the same height, and in fact it is Vinales who is lighter than Zarco, by 2kg. Rossi is the disadvantaged one in that case, being 10cm taller and 5kg heavier.

So if Yamaha were wiping the floor with Honda, how come MM won the title and Honda the constructors?

Do you not remember how badly Honda and Marquez struggled with acceleration?
Honda and Marquez won because Marquez has an insane amount of talent and neither stop trying to win at any stage.

Agreed, that's one of the reasons for so many crashes, Marc had to make up ground by pushing the limits on the brakes all the time. The Honda was woeful (compared to its competitors), on the acceleration.

It was actually better than the Ducati at Austria last year...

The Yamaha's acceleration is woeful.

So now its changed, Yamaha didn't wipe the floor with Honda, in fact Honda with a crap bike wiped the floor with Yamaha, which now begs the question, why are Yamaha so useless this year, with similar problems?

Austria was after the winter break. Up until the winter break Honda was being smashed by everybody on acceleration.
