Rossi making moves against Jarvis

Yes, NZ is a good place, with a national spirit which seems to have disappeared in most places. Even the politics seem less ideological than elsewhere.

Yep,too far from anywhere for the religious crazies to really bother about, where i live there's hardly any people so they'd stick out like dogs bollocks anyway, plus most of us are well armed!..which reminds me,i must get a few more boxes of ammo for my AR..

Religious crazies? Mate, even in London, you're more likely to die from choking on your food, being buried alive or drowning in a bathtub.

Hiding in rural New Zealand with an AR from an extremely remote threat doesn't make much sense, rationally.

Enjoying rural NZ because it's beautiful seems a far better motivation.

He didn't want to engage with MM. That's his prerogative.

Vale not wanting to engage with Marc post incident I understand.
But the things he came out with to the press afterwards were manipulative and bad for the sport (in the short term).
Yes, race direction should've had the stones to not be swayed, but Vale knew what he was doing. It was a deliberate attempt to have Marc further penalized, instead of beating him the old fashioned way, on the race track.

Having said all of that, I think that Valentino has ridden fantastically this year and this has always been my problem with him- He is such a good rider, he doesn't need the mind games.

You have a chronic case of Dicknotwetitis.
Seek help.

I spent some time in McMurdo back in 2003 but never got around to NZ. One day I will, it's on my list of places I want to ride.

Spent some time riding in Vietnam two winters ago. It's godawful in Hanoi, but once you get out in mountains it's beautiful all the way up to the Chinese border. I'd never really ridden dirt much, but got lots of practice riding through the muddy rice paddies. Little CRF250L Honda (same as Holy Puck has) is a killer bike.

They were your words. When asked to identify reasons for living in NZ over the U.K., you identified a Muslim mayor in London, the banning of Christmas (which is obviously not true) and the fact that it's too crazy for religious crazies to get to you, and the fact that you're 'well armed'.

I got the sense that he was legitimately furious. Maybe he was being strategic, but I thought his reaction was sincere.

Rossi has consistently been second since 2014 (other than last year). His problem is that Marquez is simply faster and more consistent. Interesting to think that, without Marquez, Rossi would likely have another three premier class titles (14, 15 (MM's presence took more points off Rossi and JL) and 16).

What ifs are pointless as you doubtless realise. Pedrosa actually took more points away from Rossi late season 2015 than MM did, and if HRC hadn't had MM they may have had someone else who wouldn't have dnfd 7 times. Lorenzo also threw his bike down the road in the race in which MM clinched the championship in 2016 after Rossi had already done so, and the points he could have had if beating Rossi rather than keeping the title race alive was his motive were more than the points margin between them at the end of the season iirc.

There's definitely an element of hypocrisy there, I agree.

It is exactly this inconsistency which formed the attitudes of those some call haters on here, initially in regard to an element among Rossi fandom then Rossi himself, pretty much every bike fan including I would guess most of us having at least appreciated Rossi at one time. Not only was the the post-race denouement similar after a much more egregious incident in which Rossi was entirely at fault with Stoner not even contesting him, but Stoner was pilloried despite a much milder reaction and moving on immediately with no complaints to the press.

When Rossi just gets on with riding well as he did in 2013 and in recent races this year I have no problem with him, and as I have said I actually again admire how he is riding currently, particularly last race, at the age of 39.

In 2015, no-one on the grid was close to the pace of Rossi, Lorenzo, MM and Pedrosa over that season. The Yamaha was really strong that year.

The Motegi 16 argument could apply to Rossi too. Had he been solely preoccupied with beating JL, he would've cruised home while comfortably leading JL.

I obviously realised the “what if” the other way, but that is part of my point, the possibilities rapidly become myriad with what ifs. In 2015 it was generally conceded the 4 bikes the riders you mention were riding had a pronounced advantage, despite which Iannone beat both Rossi and Pedrosa at PI which was a significant contributor to Valentino losing the title, and if say Dovi was on the HRC bike who knows what may have happened?. If Dani hadn’t been injured he may have taken points away from Rossi early season as well as late season.

I think it is best just to acknowledge whoever won by beating everyone who turned up to race them. I might make an exception for one non premier class title, when iirc Capirossi took out his title rival in the last race of a season.
