James Toseland was the reason I started watching bike racing, Marco was the reason I stayed watching it, I love rebels in sport Marco always seemed to ride on the edge, loved watching him RIP.

Reality Check !!!!

Expect this will change MotoGP.

Very sad day, and I unquestionably retract every bad comment I have ever posted about Marco.

We all sometimes forget that these guys are all just pure racers, out there giving 110% every weekend.

That crash was sickening.

Was on the way back from a party, needless to say the car went silent when we got a call about the news, shocked and stunned.

RIP Marco!

As bike racing fans, we follow this sport so avidly and feel that we have an affinity with the riders. We feel like they aren't just sportsmen who live a life so detached from the real world of most forum members.

This sport and these racers bring us many things. Excitment, tension, smiles and new friendships. It also brings us tears.

I was trying to explain this to a friend after I heard the news while we were shopping. She couldnt get her head round why I'd be so upset, but it really is almost like we know them.

Dont think theres anymore i can say, I'm just speechless
<

RIP Marco and thank you

I'm still numb, had the race recorded and played the incident back in slow motion, I knew it wasn't good and to read the news of Marco's passing, I just can't put it into words right now.

Rest in Peace Marco Simoncelli you will be sorely missed my friend.

Did not want to watch the crash. Clicked the link for Moto2 race and as has been the case these last few races - the links were wrong, and the beginning of the MotoGP race started and I was sucked in and could not turn away. What a horror. Just too sad. The look on the faces of the riders as Carmelo walked from garage to garage giving the news personally to each rider; Dani's face fell in his hands. Nick Harris and co. could hardly talk. Just heartbreaking.

RIP Marco.

Absolutely devastating. A terrible tragedy and a real loss for MotoGP.

Thanks for the memories Marco. We'll miss you.

I have passed my condolences in the race thread but again I will, they cannot be expressed enough.

I loved watching him ride a motorcycle. He was always wringing its neck, trying to get 110% from it.

He was a joy to watch, he ride it like he stole it, race with a rampaging Simo was never dull.

Simo more than most rode close to the risky edge of the sport.

He nearly made the top step last week at Phillip island.

On a 1000cc bike he was going to stand on that top step a lot.

He was a deserving factory rider and got his ride next year because of his skill and guts.

His life was cut way too short and we never got to see all that he would be, but we knew.

His family would be devastated, his friends likewise. Fans like me are gutted.

Long Live Marco!

i'm ....... gutted. I've not slept all night since i saw the crash..it feels like a bad dream.. i'll ride with you on the other side someday..

R.I.P SuperSic, Gods speed brother.

I just got up to watch the race and seen the accident. I am a little speechless now. I was a true fan of his from the first time I saw him ride. Marco was a great person and a great racer. A free spirit who rode and lived life by his own rules. We will never see another Super Sic. Gone but not forgotten.

An old motorcycle mate of mine from 25 years ago called me to tell me the news, but I had been watching the race live with my 10 year old son who only cheers for Simoncelli.

RIP Marco

I am in total disbelief. Super Sic is gone, a huge talent taken before his prime. My heart goes out to his family and friends as well as Colin and Vale. What another sad day in the racing community. Damn he was so good and now we will never know just how great he could have been.
