I am sure that many people who saw the race were worried about Marco after seeing that terrible crash, especially after seeing his helmet come off. It appears that he lost control of his bike and slid across the track and was struck by Colin Edwards (who has a dislocated shoulder as a result). Sadly at 16.56 local time, Marco Simoncelli passed away as a result of his injuries. This is the news that none of us wanted to here, I have many MotoGP fans and riders added on twitter and there were hundreds of post praying for Marco and hoping for a miracle. It is truly heart breaking news and he will be sorely missed, he was an amazing rider, an amazing person and a great character. The paddock will not be the same with out him and his amazing hair. Cal Crutchlow posted on his' twitter "RIP Marco Simoncelli ! A great rider and all round nice guy. My thoughts are with all his family & friends. I will never forget today … #58"
This is a part of motor racing that we never want to see and happily it is a rare event but when it happens it hits everyone involved in motor racing and fans of the sport hard.
My thoughts and prayers are with his' fellow riders, team, family and friends at this difficult time.
My thoughts are also with Colin Edwards who would have been in the clinic with Marco when he passed away
He was loved by millions of people around the world and will be missed but never forgotten.
RIP Marco Simoncelli and thank you for everything
