Repsol Honda Not Attending The Aragon Test

Hi guys

Did not found any topics relating to the Aragon test so I started it.

I just heard Repsol Honda is not going to attend the Aragon test because they are not allowed to test the new tyre. What the hell is going on with Honda this season? and why they don't have the capability to adapt to new regulations and changes?? I can't see other teams complaining about the new tyres.

Again please inform me if I'm wrong.

Cheers

If the new tire comes in at Silverstone, and they can't test with it, no need to waste resources.

a couple of members were being ridiculed for saying bridgestone were messing with hondas title chances but actually it appears thats the way it turns out. to make it perfectly clear: i'm not saying anything is done intentionaly. i get that supplying just one tyre is cheaper and hence the way to go. but that doesn't change the fact that honda are at an disadvantage here and have little chances to do anything about it as of now

i have no idea why bridgestone won't supply the old tyre, this is like 2004, just worse for them because they're forced to deal with chatter caused by new tyres.

looks very poor on bridgestones part that there are no tyres available for wednesday.

but i guess hrc are not the ones that will just suck it up, 99% sure they'll get another test. its high time honda sort out the chatter issues, i want to see lorenzo/stoner on equally good bikes fighting it out for the last time

you cant really let honda use the old tire because that would be against the lame ... single tire rule, i think. The old tire works better for the hondas for sure. And if they were allowed to use them, whats to stop this from happening every time a new tire is developed and a team likes the old one. Eventually you will have many different tires again. I mean if a team has been developing set-up around the tire it should work better with the old. I been watching older races and the single tire rule absolutely sucks!!! There are so many reasons different tires make for great racing.

Looks like Bridgestone isn't supplying the tire until after silverstone. Dani is calling it unsafe and unfair to Honda.

I get that it's unsafe if the tire is causing chatter but can't Honda try on their end to remedy it, or at least get on bridgestone for a new tire? I don't understand how they would make a tire deliberately to be unfair to Honda

Pedro is just whining. So its Bstones job to solve Honda's chatter problems? If Pedro wants to talk about "unfair" how about we talk about when he walked out on Michelin in a fit of snobbery mid season.

Pedrosa greetin aboot tyres, HRC throwin the toys oot o the pram, I feel a mystery illness coming on. Who will be Pedrosa's team mate after Silverstone?

I disagree with your entire post my good old chap. The members you are talking about called it a tire conspiracy to screw Honda. Ridicule deserved. Honda have occupied most of the podium positions, fact. They have two factory entries who have not yet been off the podium at some point, fact. Their top rider has cited personal arm pump as part of the problem in his performance, their token Spanish midget has had no such problems with his small short arms.

That one tire choice is for everybody, so they must ALL adapt. If anybody has a significant advantage in this regard, it IS factory Honda. So everybody else has a decided disadvantage when it comes to single tire rules.

Pedro/Stoner are on a slightly superior bike to Lorenzo despite their issues. Some have claimed here that Yamaha is now better than Honda, but the podium positions have been overwhelming Honda real estate. The last race Lorenzo simply made a better tire choice than both Honda riders, how is this Bstones' fault? Come on brotha.

True, however, every dry race this season has produced actual mid race passing for the lead. So this year's single tire has not been like previous tire situation. Nicky made the wrong gamble in the last race in regards to tires. The reason: because tire wear is now a major issue, and a bit complicated to predict when coupled with weather. Lorenzo, either by luck or tire management, made a better tire choice (yes there is still an element of choice in a single tire situation).

I was for the single tire rule because previously, "tire war" meant, special better exclusive tires for the darlings of the sport. I dislike that type of favoritism. But, I was then worried that a spec tire would simply be developed around a darling. That looked to be happening in 2008. But since then it seems to be a look of the draw as to who likes the tires. So I'm fine with it for now.

I agree and this year has been better. But when I look at the tire war days. I see it more as developing for each manufacturer, and when they got it right we seen some great races for the lead. 2006 for example.

And MHCobra I just watch the pepe interview and he said "we have no tires in aragon." Which in broken ... spanish to english means, the new tires suck so me and casey arent going whaaaaaaaaaaa! They could go and test them if they wanted to. But Bradl will do it for them. And basspete think that should answer who will fill cs's seat after his next milkaholic relapse.

I think part of the processional racing was more a function of the 800 .... bikes than the single spec tire. 06 We still had SNS. But yeah, I agree that if the manufactures are given liberty to develop along with their tire choice it can produce some magic.

It wouldn't be the first time Pedro has done this.

if i recall correctly, in preseason testing there were two spec tires, 22 and 24. hrc riders preferred one spec, and all the rest of the paddock preferred the other. so for bstones was easy to choose what tire to produce. hence the tire conspiracy.

Total right about the 800's once again jummers.

And with the bold. We dont need multiple tire manufacturers just tires being developed for each bikes or even riders needs. On a non-bias basis. I could be asking a lot but this is motogp right?

Watching instanbul 06 right meow.

And as long as there is the one tire rule, thats the way its got to be.

Maybe I misunderstood what the stupid Catalan said. What I understood from the Crash.net news was that The Repsol guys have more chatter with the new tyre and they want to test it in Aragon but the new tyre will not be available till the Silverstone race, So they did not found any reason to attend the Aragon test.

But with the ........ english of Pedro and what you say, maybe he just wants to stay with the old tyres and is not satisfied with the new tyre.

Here is important parts of the Crash.Net news:

Although the majority of teams and riders prefer the new tyre, which has been an additional option at recent rounds, the factory Honda riders are far more comfortable on the original spec. Pedrosa blasted the decision as unfair - and since the new spec tyre will not be available at Aragon on Wednesday, Honda sees little point in testing.

That means Pedrosa will next be on track, with the new front tyre, during Friday practice for the British Grand Prix. Team-mate Casey Stoner also dislikes the new rubber, but insists he will make it work.

What the hell?? If Pedrosa has problems with the new tyre than why the whole Repsol team is not in the test? It also says the new spec is not available in the test.

Dani stamping his little feet and saying "It's not fair!" is ridiculous. This is motorsport: it's rarely, if ever, fair.

Bridgestone not having the new spec tyres available to test at Aragon: also ridiculous. Amatuers. No wonder they could never compete with SNS.

its sucks for HRC but they have to meet the demands of bridgestone, not the other way around. Simple as that.
