Rea to make MotoGP testing debut in Sepang

Jonathan Rea is scheduled to ride Casey Stoner's Honda RCV212V in a two day test at Sepang starting tomorrow (Tuesday).

The current Ten Kate Honda WSB rider flew from Australia to Malaysia on Sunday and has spent today meeting with the Repsol Honda MotoGP team fixing his handlebar and footrest position in preparation for the test.

Rea will be joined by Japanese rider and Suzuka 8-hour team-mate Kousuke Akiyoshi. The aim of the test is to give Rea a taste of riding a factory MotoGP bike with the 23 year old widely tipped to become a full time MotoGP rider in 2012.

The test will also give Honda the opportunity to carry out valuable endurance testing with a competitive rider while the current MotoGP testing ban is in place. The testing ban prevents any contracted MotoGP rider from testing between 1st December 2010 and 31st January 2011.

what ya got lined up for 2012

Rea is a good rider. (With the onscreen personality of a cardboard box). I'm really like this because I hope pretty soon we will have some of the top wsbk guys in gp in the near future. When is Haslam gonna get a crack at it?

rea needs a good 11 season. i doubt he'll be in gp for 2012 unless crutchlow really has a nightmare season & gets the boot. of course he could be in line to ride hondas secret crt entry in 12....

I think they are talking about the plans to expand the grid buddy. So they're gonna need some good riders. Under current crop, yeah I agree, not yet, but when the grid expands to bring in some top superbike and M2 guys, then Rea may be a decent choice (though personally I'd give Haslam a shot, the problem is he doesn't have the luxury of being signed as a Honda rider at the moment).

.... me!!! i forgot he's a yamaha guy now!............so i should have said yamahas crt team..doh...and yeah haslam would be another rider would be a good call up in 2012.

Not really sure about Rea, he has sort of been off colour of late. I find his riding slightly erratic & the results unless things are perfect are sporadic to say the least. I rate Haslam more.

Redding Redding into the mix he's still in puberty and learning fast
