qatar

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (gsfan @ Apr 10 2009, 07:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I heard the track was pretty dirty but the Q session was after two full previous sessions so how bad could the line be? However, that and the almost embarrassing performance of CV getting owned by Hayate racings Marco Melandri has me face full in the beer pitcher....long night ahead. Better days ahead....I hope.

Poor Marco, what a Long Strange Trip he's been on.
<

He and the bike are obviously not quite as 'crap' as people might have thought. I really hope Kawasaki can offer some under-the-table help, and maybe even a few new doo-dads throughout the season.

Agree, I expected more from the Zook riders.
Still, it's only FP1, and the bikes have historically been a little tricky to setup. Hopefully they can find some speed during tomorrow's test sessions.

I agree with others that there is an extra element to practice this year with the tyre limitations, and I don't think even casey is going to wear out his best tyres chasing a dominant lap time in friday practice; I also hold the perhaps vain hope that he will exhibit a little more tactical sense this year.

As was pointed out at the time, the large advantages stoner had at some testing venues were down to a very few laps, with rossi running consistent lap times much closer to the general run of stoner's lap times, so as everyone knows the race will tell the story. I disagree that casey needs a second advantage in practice though; because valentino managed to overcome this once in a particular set of circumstances doesn't mean it can be generalised to every race from now on, partcularly as rossi's team will presumably now not be impeded by lack of tyre data in early practice at each track.

I don't know what it means, but having said that the ducati had to be set up for jerez uniquely during the recent jerez test ( although it was early on when he wasn't topping the time-sheets) stoner reportedly said after friday practice that the jerez settings were working well at qatar.

Rossi sends support to earthquake victims

Reigning six time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi will ride at Qatar with a sticker in support of the people of Abruzzo, where over 200 people lost their lives in Monday's earthquake.

“This weekend I have a special sticker on my bike, which says 'Forza Abruzzo'. It's a message from us for the people of Abruzzo,” said Rossi. “It's not so far from my home in Tavullia and I want them to know that we are with them at such a terrible time.”

Pramac Racing riders Niccolo Canepa and Mika Kallio also have a sticker on their bikes in memory of the people who lost their lives.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Wander @ Apr 10 2009, 10:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Anyone still doubting that Kallio can reach top 10 in the first race? I, as I've said before, think he definitely will.

Top ten and second Ducati rider is pretty much on the cards for him at the moment...

Hey guys this is a serious question because I had a bet with my friend
<
:

Who do you think will qualify faster at Qatar between Toseland & Gibernau?

I said Gibernau & my friend who is a huge Toseland fan said James.

It was just a fun bet - yoou know, experience who's been out of the game for a while VS. youth who is prone to crashing.

But.....I am really surprised with Gibernau's pace. Thought he would be faster than 16th here after how well he did in Jerez?

Any chance of out-qualifying Toseland?

1.- Rossi (2009 9th champion to be!).

2.- Lorenzo.

3.- Capirossi…

18.- Pedrosa (he should wear that number from now on).

No major surprises in first practice except for perhaps Melandri who has impressed me already. DeAngelis looked good but i'll try not to get excited until i see it in a race. Hayden is disappointing so far, but he always take a while to get up to speed, lets just hope he doesn't get demoralized like he did when Dani was beating him all the time. Also i'm gonna go ahead and confess that i think Gibernaus bike looks pretty cool, and that the monster Yamahas don't. also enjoying the letterbox intake on the front of the factory Hondas, reminds me of the 01 NSR.

I would sure hope that he would be faster than Toseland,(I'm no fan of either of them but Sete is on a Ducati
<
)but i don't think Sete is going to be very competitive at all.Maybe in a few weekends this year.I don't think he is willing to take the risks, and Ducati is happy to have him as a testrider more or less.I could be very wrong though.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (clarkjw @ Apr 10 2009, 04:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Maybe lex could chime in, but I'm not sure 'soft' and 'hard' mean what we think. A soft carcass would hurt lap times, but clearly a soft compound would help, adding grip - with a shorter lifespan.
The description on MotoGP.com only notes Bridgestone will supply 'A' and 'B' slicks. So we won't know until Gavin fills us in. I'm pretty sure the hard tire is a Hard Construction/Hard Rubber. The 'B' or soft tire could be Soft/Soft or Hard/Soft or Soft/Hard.

Not much chiming for me to do.

The rules say 1 carcass 2 compounds.

All of the fun conspiracies are over.

That sucks, J.
Pirate TV is better than the 'official' product?

It seems to be a fairly common complaint. Time to demand a refund?
