<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (trouty65 @ Apr 13 2009, 11:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>This is all very confusing ive just looked on the mtogp website and it states

"The warm-up will run at 6.30pm local time (GMT+3), with the race scheduled to start at 9pm."

Eurosport2UK are showing at 17:15 - 18:45 hrs (Coverage from the opening round of the 2009 motogp) ?

and then

EurosoprtUK are showing at 22:00 - 23:30 hrs (Coverage from the opening round of the 2009 motogp) ?

Please excuse me for being a bit thick but does that mean they are showing an hour of practice and then the actual race between 22:00 and 23:30 ?

"The warm-up will run at 6.30pm local time (GMT+3), with the race scheduled to start at 9pm."
That would make London time 21:30 and the race schedule 00:00 midnight wouldn't it ?

Im confused help !!

british eurosport 2 listings now updated 18.45 uk time live motogp

Eurosport should invest in a cloud 'seeding' machine to continually rain on the BBC's parade. Anyway, 'dues ex machina' - whatever, justice is done, Toby an' Jules rise like a phoenix from the flames, resurrected on Easter Monday to do the job that they were rightfully supposed to do, egg on the faces of the BBC...this rainstorm was an act of God my friends.

BSB and Moto GP double bank holiday header, that'll do!

Casey's voicing concerns over the possibility of sand washed over the track surface btw

Is Speed Channel going to broadcast this at all? The race was scheduled to be re-aired Tuesday early afternoon. Now, we have no idea. We can only hope. Their website is full of info on when the race will be run, but nothing as to when SpeedTV will actually air it in the U.S.

(Sorry if this info is already here somewhere and I just can't find it.)

Btw. Pirkkalan GP, I was wondering... You said you are English, but live in Finland. So do you speak Finnish fluently and understand it?

According to the motogp section of channel 4 site the race will be on live...let's see.

Yes I speak, understand, read and can write Finnish. Sometimes well sometimes badly

. That kallio quote was translated from Finnish.

Oh and I've been meaning to ask you are there any decent motogp/superbike related websites for Finns?

I would venture that BBC will tap the Dorna feed with Nick Harris commentating over it, as they do with qualifying and the two stroke races.

i wonder what DSF in Germany will do

they have a 2.Bundesliga match at this time in her programm, so we will get it just taped at 11pm or so

So after all this hyperbolic jibber jabber we're going racing today and everything is okay. I hope Hayden can race after a days rest.

I was watching the practice and warmups on the tvants software with good quality... but try the sopcast link for the race

Not that I know of.

Only thing I've come across is a forum at: http://www.f1-forum.fi/vb/

There is a "Moottoripyörät" section there and I've checked it a couple of times. But as it is, it looks like F1 is still so much ahead MotoGP in Finland for whatever reason that no-one has cared to put a proper website up just for bike racing.

E: ...Maybe they should put a forum up to Kallio's website.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Babelfish @ Apr 13 2009, 03:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>By the commentators comments it sounds like it's the least likely season for rain there. The reason they don't hold it in the day is the heat. This time of year the temperature is perfect for racing in the night so if there ever was going to be a night race this is definatly the place to do it. Pretty much optimal time for racing. In the long run we would probably be better off replacing the british, dutch early spanish, and late australian rounds. Much higher risk of unraceable conditions there.

If it was a similar rain in the day the race would still have to be delayed for hours due to the rain as this was a rain storm as bad as any we've seen, including the shortened round in USA.
Actually the opposite Babel... this is THE MOST LIKELY time of year for rain in Qatar...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Babelfish @ Apr 13 2009, 03:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>That's true. If this is the "rainy" season and that create a real risk for rain a contingency plan should have been there. Otherwise it's just one of those freak accidents you typically don't have a plan for.
Winter sports have this problem all the time. Canceling and moving events happens all the time and not allways according to a plan.
Contingency planning is demanded at this level of competition.DORNA has NO EXCUSE for their level of incompetency...

So the decision to race at night increases the probability, especially if it is the 'rainy' season. I personally agree with Rossi on this one--much better to race during the day, also in Qatar.
........ POST... In hot countries, during wet season, rain can, and does come at any and all times of day... I have lived in the tropics for more years than I care to remember and the one thing you can be sure of is NOT TO BE SURE of when you will be inundated with precipitation....

posted 50 Minutes Ago

Hi,

Sorry not to have got back to you sooner, a huge number of things to sort and the tiny team we have on site in Qatar means I am trying to sort it all.

Tonight's race is live on the red button and website. I am sorry but we just couldn't get a network slot at this time but I am chasing to get a repeat on BBC2 but being a Bank Holiday and the phones are playing up in Qatar I don't have any news on that right now but I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

We have also offered, on a one off basis, live rights for this race to Eurosport so that as many people as possible will be able to watch it. None of this is ideal I know but we are doing our best in a difficult situation.

Regards,

Belinda Moore
Series Producer

I did point this out to him earlier. It's a shame no one saw fit to mention it to Ezy.

They couldn't race yesterday... in a couple of hours they had today arranged. What in hell more can you expect? The contingency plan is race today. Done.

And I love the night race in Qatar the show is great. .... happens...move along.

I'm not bothered in the slightest - suits me, and it doesn't affect me, and as I have said, it's handed live rights to Eurosport..even better.

.... happens...move along? Tell that to those race fans that went out there at not insignificant expense. Tell that to half the paddock, who from what I am currently learning are profoundly pissed off. .... happens, move along...let's do that, and watch it happen again, - as it always does.

No - let's learn from this for once, and then move on.
