looks like 4pm warm up GMT/UK and race at 7pm GMT/UK

QUOTE (Babelfish @ Apr 13 2009, 08:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm as pissed as anyone because the race is cancelled, and I'm definatly not a fan of Dorna lately, but blaming Dorna for rain at a place it rains 6 days a year is the lamest I've heard this year. Get a grip or you may just as well blame them for Global warming, terrorists and Haydens high side as well. They are all probably closer to Dornas possible influence than a freak rain storm.
I'm blaming dorna. It rained yesterday and today, so it's obviously the wettest time of the year.
<

The fact is, if they had a day race, they could ride in the wet. The whole night race thing is a waste of time. What benefits does it have? I can't see any. Especially when I have have to get up so early to see a cancelled race.
<

Apparently the sheiks (or whoever run this race) pay double the amount to have it as it's the first race of the year. More money grabbing from dorna at a time they know isn't optimal.
.... DORNA! They suck - little bernie ....... wanna be's, ruining the sport.

Ah, Dorna.

At the Nickey Hayden page he says it was engine failure...

However, the Australian’s first question to his mechanics on his return to parc fermé was not about his own authoritarian performance but about the condition of Hayden, who he had seen left strewn in the gravel at turn eight following a sickening high-side. It was the latest episode in a luckless weekend for the American, who suffered an engine breakdown in today’s final free practice.

Isn't there some religious reason that prevents them from racing in the day on a Sunday in Qatar, which is why the race used to be on a Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday?

that was in free practice seen on tv his big highside was in qualifying and not engine breakdown until we get the WORD.yes his highside was strange..but no official news yet if im correct.?

"an engine breakdown in today’s final free practice."

I dont think that there is a religious reason here. This is fault of DORNA and Bridgestone. Innepts
They were not prepared for rain. There were no rain tires available for all.
The iatlian news reporter was pissed off when he signed off the air
This is a big joke

Channel 10 were going to run this at 9am, I got up left the computer alone cooked bacon and eggs, big cup of tea and then this .....

At least there is a three way playoff to finish the golf.

Its raining here (It rains about 250 days a year in Murwillumbah where I live) but it rains like twice a ....... year in sandland and it even hails for the motogp race.

Go figure

what i know is that at a certain time in the afternoon (what i remember is 3pm), they have to pray. no matter what they're doing, they stop and they pray.

EDIT:

searched and refreshed my memory. 5 prayers in a day as their religious obligation, with the second prayer (dhuhr) performed after midday. i have forgotten all of my lessons in world culture so correct anything if you know better

The dhuhur prayer times is from midday til 3pm. After that, ashr prayer times til 6pm. (The prayer itself usually takes about 15 min). So I don't think that's why they run the night race.

I'm sure that's Jorge Lorenzo in the picture. We're all pissed off (me too) due the race delay, but FYI, 2004 - 2007 Qatar series was run in midday.

Jumkie, where have we heard this before?

Standard operating procedure. Don't let anyone know you aren't running in the rain. Pretend it was just an oversight.

The chuba chubs lid kinda gives it away lol.

It's disappointing but it happens, no need to get too worked up about it, not much anyone can do about the weather!

And -I- thought the picture was haliriously relevant so

Exactly.
Because if they night at Qatar, than the race will be broadcast afternoon (?) live in Europe. In another word, more audience. Sadly, the move to the night race itself makes Asian's audience extremely tired. If the race is on time, then MotOGp is start about 3:30 AM here.

Exactly. If i didn't overslept (haha! i just saved myself from a huge disappointment), i was supposed to nap for 2 hours, get un by 1am to start the 125, then wait until 4:30am to finish everything.

it's already a sacrifice sometimes when some of the europe races starts at 7 or 8pm, then we'd have to stay up really late, or when it's laguna and indy when, like qatar, we have to stay up during the wee hours of the morning.

but heck, those up there don't care about people like me (or us if you're also from this region), we are just a speck in the audience stats. we won't even make up 1% for them to give a damn at our viewing experience. add to that the ...... scheduling of star sports.
