Could be. Or maybe he's taking the Gobert approach. Show up overweight (or drunk or stoned, whatever fits your schedule) and see if you can still win.

+1. I love this topic!
But prepare to be inundated by posts reminding us of 'that' Bimota ride, the zxr...that he was the most naturally talented person to ever race a motorcycle etc etc, (hi 'Gaz', 'Son of D') ...er, no he wasn't
- I couldn't give a .... if he was the supposed second coming; ones personal prowess toward racing motorcycles in a circle means jack when you're in the business of mugging elderly people on 'Surfers' to guarantee the next fix.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (gsfan @ Mar 5 2009, 01:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Does Rossi look heavier than last year?

it could be the extra gear etc but IMO most of his "chubbiness" comes from the differing resolutions of the camera and a PC monitor...

Sorry bro, I'm slippin.

Sometimes the Ambiguous Anarchist is so ambiguous that he escape my ........ detection systems.

If he had an inch of clothing under his leathers maybe. He looks 20lbs heavier than I've seen in the past.

Come on guys! its just middle age spread! .... he's getting on a bit now you know
<
<

but seriously I think he actually looks like he's been working out ...... doesn't look like "excess" baggage to me. I think he seemed to look fitter last year ..... now even fitter again.

That's right - cause he was the most talented rider I've seen. Just because he's a junkie doesn't mean .....

Hendrix was a junkie and lots of people liked him. I remember here in Canada we had a guy that could ride like hell. He was just unreal and won a championship one year but sadly was a coke head. One of my buddies went over to him at a race and chatted with him about racing and he was told you can ride much better with a couple of beers in you...seriously. Gifted rider but went nowhere after that.

Hendrix didn't rob old lady's to feed his habits, Gobert did hence why i called him a tosser. for the record i think Hendrix was great and if he wasn't a drug taker we would have been denied the great direction he took his music.

Basspete summed up Gobert right a while back. A flawed genius.

Well its kinda odd there was no more about this, just the initial charges ...... I'm wondering if he just pissed off the Queensland Police and courts ....QLD police are known for a bit of ........ at times

A general observation;

After one round of WSBK and two tests in MotoGP, it's pretty hard to see anything other than one factory Yamaha Rider vying for the title against one factory Ducati rider for their respective 2009 world championship titles.

Looks like the demise of Honda continues for a another year!

That's if you don't count supersport, which is going to have a very good season.

Its not like they don't deserve it. They are the most committed company in MotoGP yet have made the poorest team management decisions. They let go of arguable the best modern rider at the peak of his performance in Rossi, then, they orchestrate what they thought would be a coup on the series by pushing for 800s in hopes of enjoying years of advantage with their signed midget, but that has backfired. They notch a title though they did their best to sabotage it, but then respond by relegating their champion to second rate testing duty stubbornly holding the line on their plan of series domination with Asimo. And now again that has backfired by allowing their rider to sit out test in hopes of avoiding injury...and that has also backfired in spectacular fashion.

I say, thank Honda for providing half the bikes in the series, and also .... them for shooting selves in not just one foot, but both.

Does if you're old and retired and just finished your shopping outside of a supermarket in Surfers Paradise one afternoon. Do you think that old boy thinks the fact that Gobert was supposedly a 'very talented rider' means ....?

Very talented riders invariably perform all over the world consistently, and in the face of adversity. One of the most talented riders you've seen? You amaze me 'Son' because you've clearly been around the block a bit.

O.K talented riders that I've seen? Sheene, KRsnr, Gardner, Joey, Foggy, Doohan, Rainey, Schwantz, Lawson, Bayliss, Kato, Hizzy, and ultimately Rossi and Spencer, - a selection of riders off the top of my head that I have watched race from trackside that were and are in the category of supreme natural talent, it's a slightly different league isn't it; -none of whom Gobert would even be worthy of greasing a chain for. And that's not to mention the guys that I never had the privilege to have seen at a circuit...the Hailwoods, the Ago's, the Nieto's, Bill Ivy, Jarno, etc etc

I've never subscribed to the flawed genius label...in and on their day, none of these guys allowed themselves to be flawed .... ups week in week out, and on the odd occasion they did, their talent still somehow shone through. That's the difference. Fast Freddie burnt out and became a spent force precisely because of his unnatural talent..not for the love of a $30 wrap.

Uhm...aren't you forgetting somebody?

My thoughts exactly! Dani's name did stand out as being one that was overlooked.
