That'll take some doing.

It was destroyed (on purpose) 9 or so years ago.

racing at night at a circuit in a country that has nothing to do with the sport with no spectators - sounds great - oh yeah. so it's being copied from nascar i.e. a kind of racing whether in daylight or at night is still the same boring procession. i say no races in countries that have nothing to do with sport

aka archie bunker

Well saw the videos over at motogp.com looks like good visibility.

That would be no surprice really. (Downhill) Skiing in artificail light is quite common and give excellent visibility and perfect contrast. Of course the snow is white but even on dark surface I would guess the conditions would be close to perfect for racing. More constant conditions with lower temperatures and less wind makes the night a good time to race on a track with artificial light.

i get the lower temps and maybe more consistent conditions, but why is it less windy at night? is it surely that the wind just changes direction? because the track is near the sea...

Temperature changes and heat create wind.

Can't be 100% sure but most places around the world the local wether conditions are regulated by the sun. The wind picks up at day and slow down at nightfall. Any larger low pressure would change that of course but the norm I would guess is less windy at night.

If it's near the sea it's even more likly to work that way.

what is all this crap - wind, sea, nighttime temparatures, down-hill skiing- next will be a f...ing baking contest - why does anybody race in qatar at all - and then at night - cancel the venue and add a race in another country - Uk, germany, usa or anywhere where bike racing is a national sport
