Scott Asheton doesn't seem to be with them in Australia this time. I actually haven't seen the Stooges before, saw Iggy solo with Frank Infante on guitar a long time ago, and Ron Asheton with Dark Carnival in a small room in a suburban pub which probably permanently damaged my hearing.
James Williamson though, that's gotta be a plus? Prepare for more hearing damage!

Ok in your version of history, Rossi didn't threaten that he would leave and go WSBK, WRC, F1 racing if he didn't get the bridgestones like a spoilt child throwing his toys out of the cot. We get it. The rest of us will stick with reality whilst you go searching for Talpa in fantasy land.

Oh, and by the way, you bought Stoner into it no body else did.

If stoner should have stayed after giving Ducati the best figures for a whole era then Rossi should have stuck with Ducati rather than getting Ezpeleta to get him his old bike back at Yamaha, considering he gave Ducati nothing in return for stealing their money under false pretenses.
You (& Andy) brought up this weird view about loyalty, you seem to be under the impression that it should only apply to riders that you want to beat with a stick & no-one else? You call that reality? While you sit there & peddle conspiracy theories as truth?

 may i suggest u stop being a .....? If ur gonna jump in to debate, dont ..... out when what u are saying is quite easily rebutted resulting in u getting flustered. What exactly has "turned u off"? That people dont agree with u?

Both sides of this debate, which are now just repeating the original points i made on this thread, seek to remind us of the events that lead up to a spec tire. I think where ur running into problems is using fuzzy logic. U first attempted to compare SNS to the relationship Bstone had with its 3 constructors. Then it was all down hill from there. Haha. Its hard to argue when ur on the wrong side of history in logical terms buddy.

With love,

Jumkie
You, the great fantasist accuse anyone else of fuzzy logic?

Denying the hard work put in by both Michelin & Bridgestone to achieve their respective results is truly your best work!

Michael, you & I were having a fine rational conversation. Then the language of accusation (you now what I mean, you invented) creeped in & I have no interest in continuing the same ........ conversations. I would rather say nothing than drop to that level.

The trouble is because all you fuckers haven't been challenged in a while you have come to believe your hyperbole.

^thats the spirit. U still need a bit more manning up though. Very sensitive to accusatory language...fire with fire good sir. Go gettem! Buck up hombre. :p

As i said before, u need back up Goaty. Im sure once season starts and VR wins, Sofa racer and other boppers will join and restore balance to forum. I mean, cuz thats what we are ALL anticipating right? The return of VR. :p

What is the point of fighting fire with fire? It's all been said before. I know you think if you repeat something enough times that it becomes truth, but it don't. ;)

Allright, I read back this thread in search of the drop in level of rational conversation due the language of accusation creeping in. Since no one called you a lying .... or something similar, and since you claim it was I that turned you off to posting and expunged your quota of seriousness for this year, I can only assume you refer to my post, which said that claiming that the 2007 Michelin was not a competitive tire reeks of revisionism.

So help me out: is this where you draw the line? If yes, fair enough I apologize if I stepped on your toes. I'll probably do it again, I'm not that alert to other people's sensitivities. And I do have to wonder, do you plan on displaying some consistency regarding where you draw this line, or does it depend on whether or not people agree with yo?

Stoner was loyal to Ducati for 5 years.  In turn they offered his seat to his competitor at substantial more money whilst he was off sick.  At all times he blamed his own riding for poor results rather than the difficulties or failings of the bike.  In 2009 & 2010 claiming the bike was a championship bike but his health and injuries were preventing him from achieving the bikes full potential.

When Stoner left Ducati he left on very good terms, he did not burn the bridge and acted with integrity and maturity.  He cited the main reason for leaving being the desire to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Mick Doohan.  After leaving he has rarely ever spoken ill of Ducati.

Lets contrast that with your idol Rossi.  Rossi went there stating that he would fix it very easily which is a suggestion that Ducati had no idea what they were doing.  He then bitched and complained in front of the whole world that the bike sucked and Ducati sucked more because they weren't dropping their heritage fast enough.  He then continued to take their money despite putting in almost no effort to ride the bike hard because the poor little precious didn't want to hurt himself.

Thats three factually correct posts today Mental that i hole hartedly agree with, the boppers will never agree with you but just look forward to seeing the clown get just deserts this season thoe im sure they will have a thousand excuses,if you are ever in my neck of the woods the beers are on me.

Poor Goat is all alone and needs a friend. Here I think I found one for you.

Michael Scott's man love for Rossi is as strong as ever.

"Valentino Rossi, the saviour of Yamaha and the most successful rider ever".

'He'll be grinning that impish grin, twiddling his ear ring, then going out to do it all again..................marching imperiously towards an eight and ninth championship" (Goat he ...... up, Rossi already has nine.)

"Rossi is the apotheosis of the pure racer. Ego on two wheels, self doubt not in the vocab. I can go faster than you can. Something every great racer needs to know without having to ask himself"

Not finished yet, he continues on...................

"His past is littered with the corpses of the slain - Biaggi, Gibernau, Melandri all as good as dead as far as GP racing goes" (Haha yeah no life line to Carmelo. Why did he leave Stacey off the list of the mentally weak?)

Now for the wall. There is no wall, Rossi never demanded a wall. Its all lies. Mr Scott.........................

"Last time the pair rode together there was a wall down the middle. It was the legacy of 2008 when they'd been on different tire brands, but Rossi liked it so much he demanded it stay even after it had become Bridgestones all around."

I was enjoying our conversation as well goat, and value your continued good humoured participation in the forum in the current state of the zeitgeist. My biases come through like anyone else's, perhaps even when I attempt to agree with you, and I have been fighting the old fight about stoner only winning in 2007 because of the bike elsewhere recently.

Just to be clear, you are not one of those I consider to have double standards on stoner having advantages. I personally was opposed at the time to the control tyre, but not to rossi getting access to bridgestones for a new season, as anyone unwise enough to return to the voluminous tyre war threads could confirm. Dani getting them midseason was pushing things I thought. I agree and actually said though that any competitor is going to attempt to obtain what they believe to be the best tyre if they can.

The system would power 3000 homes. Three and a half thousand separate light sources produce 450 million lumens of light. On Sunday the 7th of April, those 450 million lumens will bathe one man. Valentino Rossi.

The focus of every spectator at the circuit and every television viewer globally will be on Rossi because, like Ali, the story is utterly compelling.

Valentino Rossi, playing the part of Odysseus returning home battle weary from his travails in the Bolognian wars to reassert his rightful place as King of Ithaca, will take the starring role in the feature presentation.

So where does this leave our returning King? …The current King has grown in stature since Odysseus departed.

[brace yourself for the ending]

Homer’s epic poem ‘The Odyssey’ was written sometime in the 8th century BC. Its hero, Odysseus, returns home not only to reclaim his rightful place as King of Ithaca, but also to be reunited with his one true love. Renowned as a brave and brilliant warrior, Odysseus was given the epithet ‘mētis’ due to his intelligence, adaptability and most of all, his cunning.
Remind you of anyone?

I totally agree, just like Stoner should have stuck with Ducati instead of high tailing it to Honda...or...maybe not.

Livio went there 12 months before Casey and this was a slowly planned and executed change of team, it didn't outlaw any team manufacturer of bikes or equipment etc.  but (but showed the Ducati to be a pile of rancid ....). The difference between the panic dumping of Michelin and the slow move to Honda highlights what the difference is.

One was moving in time akin to glacial motion, the other was an assassination.

Things have changed a bit since your visit. There is a growing (albeit slowly) middle class. Zillions of Jawa two-strokes, some as old 1962, sure don't help with the pollution. I took a lot of meals in illegal home resturants and the food was really good. The expensive resturants sucked uniformly. Now there are a lot of legal paladres - which are touted as elegant 3 star quality food - all of which were disappointing. Things in the countryside haven't improved much. I went largely for the sake of going out to clubs to hear live music and it was all great. Cubans really know how to party. I was staying in a place that shared a courtyard with a bunch of Haitians. They threw some kind of major private shindig the last three nights I was there. Most incredibly wild singing and African drumming styles with insane signature changes that made the hair on my neck stand up. The constant screeching of the goats being slaughtered probably had something to do with it too.

Well that's good to hear. When I was there (5 years ago now?) there was zero middle class to speak of. It was strange though, there was a larger upper class than you would think. We spent the lions share of our time in Havana and our hotel was in Miramar. The area was all of these dilapidated mansions, looked like half of them were falling over. Anyway, walking around there one day this older dude starts trying to talk to us. He motions for us to follow him, we figure he knows somebody who knows English. So he takes us to this run down mansion and once we get inside its beautiful. Marble everywhere, huge vaulted ceilings, really well kept up. As we are waiting in some small entrance room we notice all the pictures on the wall of some general and Fidel. Eventually some dude comes out and starts talking to us in broken English (way better than my Spanish), this goes on for a bit until this older lady comes out and starts yelling at us in perfect English. Turns out its a retired general's place. The inside was gorgeous outside was disgusting. Things are never what they seem in that country.

Yeah the best food was defintly in casa paticulars.

Jumkie- Picture an English person with no passion for food cooking Spanish food with almost no ingredients or spices. That's Cuban food in a nutshell.

That sickening, turgid rubbish you guys quoted boils my piss.

I burnt my eyes on the Sofaraper tailings on Motomatters and really didn't need that teen-mag crap from Mr Drooping-jowls-and-gut Scott. Not today.

Mr Watch-my-authoritative-blubber-waddle-through-the-paddock is a ....... blight on motorcycling.

The paiderastia stuff is obvious, Sofaraper has a deep desire to be VR's pais.

As an aside, look up Symposium. Might make a nice excuse for rowdy behaviour at boring conferences. Or at least a reason to demand bulk piss at one.

Why do you reckon they changed the rule then, if not as a cost saving measure? I don't reject the notion they might have done it and gone on to the control tyre with the object of more fairness, but if so as with many of their rule changes the law of unintended consequences applies. They fairly definitely didn't discard the sns tyre to help rossi though.

As an equaliser - more and more complaints about the overnight specials and how they favoured only a few riders.

The control tyre was purely as an equaliser - they had mucho whining from Pedrosa and Rossi about the Michelins and thus 'knew' that Bridgestone was the one to make the standard rubber.

The problems people had are normal with race tyres - they are all built the same, they suit some people, not others. Sometimes when you make shedloads of them, a bad one slips through - that's racing.

No conspiracy, no Star Chamber machinations - just Dorna/IRTA listening to what people want - which was a more equitable tyre situation. With a control tyre, at least everyone has the same gear. The problems have been when they change the formula or introduce new variations in compound.

I only have one problem with the whole control tyre thing - cut slicks. If a team wants to cut their tyre to give a little more heat, get a bit more rain clearance, let them. The rules with what and when you can run are getting ridiculous. Give them a quota, within that tyre quota you can do what you like.
