other than being scared for his well being i can't think of anything,in which case he would do miserably. you can't ride to good results when youre scared, that has been proven last season

If you are pointing to the latest accident than I have to say .... happens when you are racing at that level. But basically as long as he is racing at this level with that number of kids (2?3?4? don't know) he deserves the respect and the two thumbs up because it takes huge balls to risk your life when you have kids.
What i said was what colin said himself you ...... !
I think the announcement was so early. It really ruins the competition between the top 3. He already had the chatter issue to overcome, Now he has to keep himself motivated to be competitive. And I don't know when a guy knows he doesn't want to continue can he still be competitive or not? It is really hard for a rider at that state of mind to continue pushing hard till the end of the season. As he said himself he is not enjoying the sport anymore.

oh, Sorry, Bad understanding.
Misunderstandings happen when neither party grew up speaking English as a first language.
I have to change my opinion about the motivation because of two reasons:
1) I saw somewhere that Casey said himself his competitive style will wash out his loss of passion through out the rest of the season.
2) He was great in the first 2 practices.
So the battle is still on but I still liked it if he announced his decision later.
