With his recent announcement, will the fans and media expect Casey to win the remaining races of the 2012 season?

He's already won at his two bogey tracks. What'ya think, could he do it?

Me....I don't think he can do it unless Honda sorts the chatter issue.

I think the announcement was so early. It really ruins the competition between the top 3. He already had the chatter issue to overcome, Now he has to keep himself motivated to be competitive. And I don't know when a guy knows he doesn't want to continue can he still be competitive or not? It is really hard for a rider at that state of mind to continue pushing hard till the end of the season. As he said himself he is not enjoying the sport anymore.

i think it could be very motivating for him since he knows those will be his last 15 races on two wheels

other than being scared for his well being i can't think of anything,in which case he would do miserably. you can't ride to good results when youre scared, that has been proven last season

I didn't say HE was scared did i ?. Look for the thumb print on his head next time he takes his helmet off.

i get what youre trying to say

but what do you suggest, adriana to be upset and oblige casey to ride upright and only finish 6th or lower or else he'll get spanked, or not spanked, whatever they're into..

hahaha. Family comes first and if that was his reason than i respect him for it and wish him and his young family well for the future.

yeah but family is the wrong priority when you've got 50% of this forum getting a hardon every time you slide so beautifully!

actually i think its bad for the sport so every true fan of racing will miss him manhandle the best bikes in the world

even though i've always liked a couple of other riders more , stoner was the guy i could show youtube videos to my biker friends to get them to be more interested in gps, his riding really is beyond comprehension

That's why Racing is a young single man's game. CE2 said something like "have a kid lose half a second, have another kid lose another half a second". youichi Ui set the track on fire until he had a kid then went backwards and disappeared . Stoner has not slowed so maybe this is not the reason in himself. But the misses may put a good case to him especially after Simo died. Ive never though Casey was happy racing even though he is good at it. imo he quite often looks like he would rather be somewhere else.

thats the impression i've often had too, happy as can be when he was riding and stepped off the bike after he won a race but you could clearly tell he didnt care too much for anything else in the paddock. a bit like kimi räikkönen minus being so apathetic that its cool again

I'm pretty sure that he'll be giving 100% like every other week. It could be a record season for him though. I'm going with 13 wins for the season.

I agree. But Casey dispelled this as part of his reasons for retiring in his conference. He said it had "nothing" to do with the "birth of his daughter".
