Hello gents, it feels so good to be back!!!

Lay it all out here before the season starts in Qatar...

1 Rossi ...I think he's got it in him if the bike holds up, 4+ wins and 2 more years (1 in SBK)

2 Marquez ...crazy crashes caused by Honda ruin his season, 4+ wins

3 Lorenzo ...2nds 3rds and 8ths when he gets punted. 1 win, yes 1 win.

4 Pedrosa ... 4+ wins serious career ending injury

5 Bradl ...3 podiums, a bunch of 6th place finishes, 1 win

6 Espargaro, A ... 5th every race

7 Dovi .... 4th's, a podium and crazy mechanicals

8 Smith .... 6th's and a few dnfs

9 Cruchlow ... 1 pole 50 million crashes.

10 Bautista ... 1 podium, off to SBK

11 Hayden ... a few top 5's toward season's end, just enough to keep him from quitting

12 Espargaro, P ....... this guy

13 Redding ... he needs some supermoto lessons

14 Iannone .... a a mid season podium, then .... all

15 Edwards .... why hasn't he given up yet

You only have 13 wins accounted for. Who gets the other 5

IDK, wasn't going into that much detail.

BTW, you can crop quote...nobody needs to see the whole thing if the thread is only at 1 page

I think Marquez takes it again this year, but if Rossi can keep up the form he's showing in these tests, we're in for an interesting season.

I think he might find this speed at certain events, but I don't believe he can produce it consistently. He'll be fighting for third, probably with Bradl and Pedrosa (though the latter could end up anywhere between P1-P5, imo). But as far as consistency is concerned, my money is on a MM vs. JL battle for the chsmpionship, with Rossi possibly closer than last year.

I'd say that's the most likely scenario but it would still be nice to see some variety on the third step of the podium. Dani practically etched his name into that spot last year.

2014 Shot in the Dark:

1. Marquez

2. Lorenzo

3. Rossi

4. Pedrosa

5. Bautista

6. A.Espargaro

7. S. Bradl

8. P. Espargaro

9. A.Dovizioso

10.B.Smith

11.C.Crutchlow

12. N.Hayden

Actually, Lorenzo had almost double the number of 3rd place finishes as Pedrosa. The spot that should have had Dani's name etched on it was 2nd step on the podium. He had 7 second place finishes to Marquez's 6, while Lorenzo amazingly only had 1.

1  Marquez=    Hard to bet against him with a year under his belt and already a champion,

2 Lorenzo =     Will blame the bike  but re-sign with Yamaha

3 Pedrosa =    Will have typical Dani year and re-sign with Honda

4 Bradl      =     Riding for his career 2-3 good showings not going to be enough

5 Rossi     =      Reality sets in and Rossi retires at end of year

6 Bautista  =     In a close points duel with A Espargaro

7 A Espargaro = The soft tires look good for test times, reality check for people going gaga come race season

8 P Espargaro  = Bad news for Bradley Smith

9  B Smith  =      Herve rectifies the mistake he made in 2011 after beaten by Rookie teammate and an open option

10 Dovi      =       Enjoy that factory paycheck.

I stand corrected, your numbers are right. It definitely felt as if Dani was living on the third step by the end of the season (which he kinda was, after JLo got his mojo back in Silverstone, and he and MM took the series to another level). The one race towards the end where I felt like he was on the same level as MM and JLo was Aragon, where he was clearly looking like the fastest man on the track, at least until Marquez judo-chopped his traction control cable. Yes, he won at Sepang as well, but by that point MM was riding for points, not wins.

Given these new fuel regs, perhaps we'll see a rotating cast of M1 riders on the third step?

1 - Lorenzo (just think he will get it done again)

2 - Marquez (just class- will be up to his neck in it)

3 - Pedrosa (Inconsistent - Great & some tracks & below par at others)

4 - Rossi ( looks quicker in testing - Interesting to see if that equates to every track - hope he is back)

5 - Bradl (kid is quick but others have better equipment)

6 - Aleix (open class fuel & tyres may help, but very quick regardless)

7 - Bautista (needs to do more in 2014 imo)

8 - Dovi (Ducati may improve throughout the year)

9 - Cal (as above but will be involved in a lot of battles with his team mate)

10 - Pol (Fast kid but may lack consistency & top notch machinery)

1. Marquez - Will just squeak by.

2. Lorenzo - Will have Yamaha problems

3. Rossi - Will consistently beat Pedrosa.

4. Pedrosa - Will retire.

5. Bradl - Next fastest of the rest at this point

6. Aleix - Will prove Open class is respectable.

7. Dovi - Improved Duc, maybe.

8. Pol/Bradley - I don't expect much from either.

9. Bradley/Pol - Above

10. Bautista - Watever.

11. Cal - Crashes on the floppy front.

12. Iannone - Ducati.

13. Nicky - Maybe Honda gives the bike more oomph, maybe they just whine about the 'Spirit'.

Aleix Espargaro wins the championship. Lorenzo and Rossi DNF from Qatar after leading the race by a country mile when they run out of fuel. The rest of the season they ..... on every interview about how they dont have enough fuel to win. Marquez high sides trying to keep up in the bends with the all mighty FTR Yamaha and has a season ending injury. Pedrosa fights with Aleix for much of the season but in the end can't beat the younger, taller(?), Spaniard. Crutchlow and Dovi are either crashing or riding around in 10th place. Production Honda's will be in a little spec battle of their own around 18th place. Others mixed around in this mess of a season to come...

He's already broken his leg, so you're a little ahead of the curve there.

I see in my Twitter feed Marquez has broken his leg. Did I post that before or after the news was announced? I can't figure out this forums time setting

After, but not by much, I think.

I'm thinking Pedrosa has been told to look long and hard at his last race of 2013 and take that aggression and determination  into this season and if he takes it into this season he will be shown a lot more respect and then who knows what's possible for him.

and it pains me to say it as i'm not a fan has he in my opinion he has never had the hard edge that the other aliens have shown when the chips are down and if he he does that confidence will grow and then wow we have a three way possibly a four way battle if Rossi can hold his .... together .

but I do expect to see a championship with more people on the podium than we have seen for years.

that is all
