Pol feeling the heat

This is exactly what Willski told me, which opened my eyes. I had erroneously had the opinion that Bradley didn't deserve it either, but I was basing it only on 'results'. After I was told this I looked deeper into it and I realized I hadn't made an assessment based on what the lad had at his disposal.

I don't think Pol should be whining either given the fact he has twice got to enjoy being signed to a contract before the guy leading him in results. Pol got signed early on allowing him to concentrate on his program. Meanwhile Bradley had to do his best while thinking about his future, which was still up in the air.

Exacty ;)

Incidentally little red, Arrabi had tried to convince me that JRea's indiscriminate crashing and torpedoing was on account of the Fossil-blade. Last year Jrea rode reasonable all year. I'd like to think the lad has matured combined with a bike that he doesn't have to override. Looking at the last laps of the two races this weekend, Davies took the type of lunges that I would have assigned to Jrea (granted without contact). If the Northern Irishman has another sensible year like last, I think it will be difficult to make a case against him being promoted to MotoGP. Listening to Pol whine, Jrea might be a nice replacement at Tech3, eh?

But would Rea want to give up the ZX-10R and world titles for a satellite GP ride?
I think his goal is MotoGP. He wouldn't be giving up the titles he already has, which theoretically is supposed to be a way to get into MotoGP.

While riding in GP I am sure would be a great personal achievement for Rea...unless he is on the select 1:4 factory specials, it's almost a lost cause to go to GP unless a Tech 3 ride were to turn into a factory Yamaha ride.

Well he was winning on an uncompetitive bike and he did lose it a few times and when you're up against rocket powered Aprilias, Beemers and Kwackers you are going to have to take a few risks to beat them.

I think he's a brilliant rider and yes he deserves a decent ride in MotoGP, put him on the same bike as Cal and he'll do better. But he is 29 now and that isn't normally an age to get a decent ride as a rookie in GP so it's probably best doing what Foggy and Mladin did and make money where he is.

Bradley has Guy Coulon as a crew chief
Pol has Nikolas who is new to being Crew Chief, past job was Telemetry engineer

Maybe that has to do with it .

Wsbk ain't what it used to be but I think rea would do a better job than pol. He is Not
factory gp rider material though.

I wish Kawasaki would come back to gp more

That's the problem, there is no money in SB anymore. Mladin was taking in 3mil per season for a lot of years in AMA, while the Champion today would be lucky to see a 10th of that. You just about have to get a GP factory contract these days to assure you don't have to grind out a living after your racing career is done.

Povol, did you notice Ant West was on the podium. Still think he should have hung it up? ;)

Exactly why didn't Smith deserve the Tech3 ride?
From what I remember It was Herve himself that asked him to do time on a piece of .... minstral chassis that had fcuk all chance of winning in Moto2 and wasn't developed/changed the entire time he rode it. His Dad told me in the paddock Jerez 2011 "the bike wants to kill him". Yet he put it on the podium on at least one occasion from memory.
Yet no-one else has or ever will IMO

I thought he deserved his seat because he did what was asked of him previously to getting it,
But I wasn't so sure about last season however the kid did good.

Lil Red....the only reason I thought Smith didnt deserve the bump up to Tech3 motoGP was due to his results in Moto2....clearly Herve saw or sees something in Bradley that I and other didnt, and so brought him up....
Smith is a good hard working smart fast rider, and has shown that he very much should always have gotten his ride in Tech3....
I do very much hope other team see his potential and give him the chance....and like I said especially Suzuki....

Okay, yeah I agree on his Moto2 results alone no one in their right mind would have given him a ride, Had it not been for Herve knowing what a piece of .... the minstral chassis was and doing the year trying to improve it was why Herve put the three year deal, 1 in Moto2 and 2 years at Tech3 motogp to Bradley.;)

At the possible risk of unnecessarily splitting follicles PG, it is nonetheless a 'mistral' chassis - named after the venturi wind that funnels down the Rhone and Durance valley's in southern France. Fifty prize pompous pedantry points accrued and reputation as the forum smug .... reinforced.

That seat historically had been for riders who had accomplished pretty big things in their career , I guess what they mean is what had Bradley accomplished when Herve signed him to the promissory contract way back when. You can argue either way as to how successful this has been.

I'll trade you some smug points for some nerdy ones.

A name shared with the nice long straight at Paul Ricard.

Didn't Mistral do franes or engines or something for the endurance races of thr 70s/80s?

I think a lot of the misconception that smith isn't gp material has to do with a number of passport riders getting the tech3 seat before him.
An erroneous assumption at best. Outside of rea and mainland Europe probably the best rider around imo if we don't count part time working big eared aussies

Absolutely - and as I've mentioned several times on here, I still recall the sight of big Rob Mac steaming down it desperately trying to huddle behind the fairing of his RG500 with all the aerodynamic properties of a barn door.

I've heard that Pastis-man did that track to get around alcohol advert laws....dunno if true.
Hate pastis.

Edit to add: I remember a candid interview with Rob Mac (when he was a BSB manager?) where he quite happily admitted to scoffing packets of biscuits.

Yeah he managed Virgin Yamaha for many years and was the architect of the excellent R6 cup which brought through talent such as Crutchlow and Tommy Hill.

Didn't Rob manage the Cadbury's Boost Yamaha team? Must have been a few chocolate bars past them lips.
