Better than that...I think they should duke it out 1on1 on the track to see who the real #1 rider is.

In fact, every team should do this during the off season. It would give us some kickass entertainment!!

I'd pay to see it!!

Can you imagine a race between Edwards and Rossi? Rossi would come up to overtake Edwards, who'd move aside to make it easier for him, to avoid making Rossi work too hard.

I think Edwards would probably just forgo the race. "Rossi is the best...I already know. Let's go get a beer instead."

Although now it would be Edwards and Toseland. That would be a tough one to call.

And I guess since Rossi and Lorenzo are technically "seperate", they wouldn't have to race each other.

I'd love to see something like this. 1 on 1 duels starting on the same line. Just for 5 or 10 laps. I can only dream.

Actually, that is the most badass idea I have ever heard for qualifying.

They should have qualifying heats. 20ish riders so run 4 heats of 5 riders. 5 lap sprints on qualis, the field is determined by random lottery. The winners are given the first 4 spots ranked on time, 2nd place finishers get the next four. Top 2 times who didn't finish 1 or 2 in their heats get the 9-10 slots. All crashers and slow ..... go back out for time trials to determine the remaining 10 spots.

Wow. A random heat like Guinters, Elias, West, Dovi, and Nakano could see one of them score a 4th place start for the race. A Stoner, Melandri, Hayden, Pedrosa, Rossi draw would see one of them start from midpack.

This must be the best impromptu qualifying braninstorming sessions ever. Thank you, Phorest.

If they did this qualifying would be better than the race! Brutal passes, slides, engine mapping for copius fuel consumption. Everyone would get a premium motogp.com package just so they could watch good flat out racing on super stickies.

Too bad it will never happen. Too much entertainment and ambiguity for sophisticated European audiences.

Who cares about Edwards... we need a pre season event Rossi vs Stoner on street bikes to shut the aussies up once and for good

I have called Dani the next Biaggi for sometime now...and I think Casey has proven that you can be second or third in the small classes and still be great in the big class...

But you are right I may be getting ahead of myself....don't be surprise if Dovi seems to be getting new or good parts as quickly as Nicky does in 2008...HRC owe Dovi for not supporting him in 2007 and most of 2006, and HRC has apologised to him for it....so they will be making it up to him...

honda apologize - you must be on substances - honda believes in honda and in honda and is the only nr 1 at honda. they signed up nh because the us is (by far) their biggest market and it was good to have him there as a symbol alongside of their real championship bid. then yamaha screwed up the whole event and dnf'd rosssi so much, that old surehand got the nr 1. really ...... up honda's plan to have the market symbol there and develop the long term investment/ development the pedrobot. without this (for honda unforseen) screw up by yamaha - nh would have always been the teamate of whomever. all pretty bad since nh has certainly increased interest for moto-gp in the us, even if he did have to follow his little brother home at laguna this year. maybe he can join krjr with kkr in 2009 - i don't know, anything that would improve us-tv coverage of 2008 is welcome.
