Interesting Pedrosa interview to 'El Mundo Deportivo'
http://www.elmundodeportivo.es/web/gen/200...3409899112.html

Dani Pedrosa speaks at length of the past season. But what is really noteworthy is that he attacks his teammate flat-out saying that "someone who was the champion" gave the engineers feedback that was completely opposite to his own, and which proved to be totally wrong!
<

So according to Pedrosa, Honda's engineers went mad trying to make any sense of things and lost months trying to follow two directions at the same time. Then he goes on saying that he doesn't dislike Yamaha's solution to keep Lorenzo and Rossi in separate boxes, adding he also wouldn't mind to be alone...
<

I didn't find an English translation of the interview, but it is probably out there somewhere.
<

No offence to Pedrosa, but if thats what he said, I'd go on what Hayden's telling the mechanics and not Pedrosa. From my recollection, Hayden usually spends every test lapping about twenty or thirty laps more than the second busiest rider, and that usually isn't Pedrosa either. He really is getting to be a bit arrogant lately.

I general and before this article I wouldn't disagree, but if I understand Pedrosa correct he says this in hindsight, not speculating just concluding that only when they started to listen at him the bike sorted out.
Even if you substract a healthy chunk for the usual rider inflated ego it's hard to belive he take this completly from the air.

I think Nick should just beat the piss out of that ........ simple.

Why the hell do you hate Dani?!

Chunk of that interview translated by me ...

Do you feel now like HRC's nº1 rider and stopped being the guy next to the champion?

In this team both rider's opinions are very important.

Was that the initial problem?

The problem was that the previous champion (Nicky) didn't know very well how to develop a bike and we drove the engineers crazy. One said to the right the other one the left, and finally when the first one said to the left also, then he starts crying because he wants what Mr. Pedrosa has. It's been a difficult year because there's been two directions of development and when it looked like it didn't work, then back to one direction.

Do you understand then why Rossi wants to be on his own and that Lorenzo is separated?

Yes.

If you were given the chance (split team) would you take it?

Yes

let's get some facts on the table:
1) the only reason haystack got the Honda ride was his nationality and the importance of the US market for Honda - he was never champion of SBK or even national champion before getting the moto-gp break
2) 2006 was VERY lucky year for him - he was the best of a bunch of mediocre performers - helped and supported by yamaha f..k-ups. Seldom has a championship been won by someone with so few 1st places.
3) Pedrosa - albeit an introverted dwarf - is a gifted rider, who if he perseveres may become a 1st class racer - he does have 3 world championships to his credit - which he won by scoring 1st places
4) neither haystack nor dani have any experience developing a bike - honda would be better off using more japanese testers - AND playing fairer with their satellite teams where they have had more experienced riders.
5) Dani - and i don't like him very much - is simpler a better & faster rider than NH - that's all there is to it

And Michelin didn't fck up this year? There are several ways to win a championship and being consistent is one component. Nicky Hayden and Honda had the best team. Duc and Stoner Had the best TEAM.

Team Team Team mutherfuuuuuuuuuckn teeeaaaaaaaaaaam

If Pedrosa is SUCH a bad .......why isn't HE out there putting in 50 ....... laps every practice like Nick?

No, it was a very consistent year for him. You think a guy who wins 5 times and gets last for the rest of the season is better than a guy who gets 2nd in every race?

I think it's refreshing when a rider speaks his mind. We have to keep in mind this is Pedrosa's opinion. Whether or not Niky knows how to develop bikes besides the point. If one were to compare Niky's and Pedrosa's record in MotoGP, it would look like this:

Niky Pedrosa
1st year 5 5
2nd 8 2
3rd 3
4th 1
5th 8

So, basically Pedrosa has 2 moreyears to win the champion ship. Will he?

Because unlike Hayden, he can do much better in less laps. 'Simple'

All I can say is Wow! I was just about to say in another thread Pedrosa is an ok guy (I'm not denying the boy can ride, never have) then I read this, but maybe I better hold off until a complete translation comes in.

It's funny in an interview with Hayden found below, he states neither had any input into the bike.
http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/Nov/071116-69-1.htm

If Dani wants the bike to work better for him, maybe he should have been in Sepang this past weekend.

Hayden......luckiest man alive!

Jumkie...where are you buddy?

i know that some of the translations will have had the translator's twist put on to them but the general gist of it seems to be that Pedrosa likes working solo (which we all knew) and doesnt care much for Nicky (again, like we all knew anyway) but doesnt mind saying so, whereas Hayden never says a bad word against anybody bless him

its pretty obvious that Hayden got something wrong this year so i think maybe Dani could have had a point about him not being able to develop the 800 bike. i know they both had very different racing backgrounds but even so, the results speak for themselves...

i'd like to read the translated version though
