True, however there was a top secret plan to lure Pedrosa to Ducati if negotiations failed to secure Lorenzo.

This picture was hacked from the Ducati Course engineering department. They planned to show it to Pedro to entice him. Ducati pointed out Rossi is going to be an ....... for 2 more years, which had the unintended affect of Pedrosa extending with Honda. The upshot was that convinced Lorenzo to sign with Big Red. The Pedrocycle 2.0 project code named Little Red is now in the scrap yard.

To get back to the topic,

Whats your opinion on picking Dovi above Iannone?
Would you have picked different? And why?

I think it makes sense , even tough Iannone is getting better and has A LOT of Top speed records it doesnt win him any races.
Dovi on the other hand could have been contending for idk maybe even a 3rd place in the championship.
I believe they made a well tought choice.

And last but not least , viñales future.
Better of with Yamaha or should have stayed with Suzuki.
I'd like your opinion

If u ask me i think they picked dovi cuz of the iannones crash at qatar and le mans and ofc the way he took both out in argentina.. I think he should have stayed at suzuki.. Rossi will not make it easy for him and i kinda have a feeling he will end up like edwards over there.. I would have seen dani to yama, iannone to repsol and the suzuki line up unchanged.

Actually they offered Iannone a contract at Philip Island, which he turned down.

Contract to be in a satellite team (pramac) with full factory support, not the one he wanted .

I think the offer of the satellite ride came after Lorenzo signed. Could be wrong, but I thought he was offered a full factory ride at Philip Island as Lorenzo's signing was only very theoretical then.

I read that he was not happy with terms offered by Ducati on Kropotkin's site, don't know where I read the pramac connection, might have been on here!

It has to be gut wrenching when reality sets in for some of these guys. Lin Jarvis just flat out said Pol was never a candidate for the factory seat because his performance has not been up to where it deserved consideration. I think he is trying to get Pol to move on without actually shitcanning his ... in front of the world

It's a shame he hasn't come to much just yet, I had hopes for him considering the hard times he gave Marquez in Moto 2 .

Hopefully both Asparagus brothers will be out of GP soon.

Need to get rid of more Spanish riders.

Often the case and something I have said often (and been laughed at), that success in one category does not automatically translate to another category.

I always refer back to Kenan Sofaglu in WBSK/WSS. Absolutely dynamite in WSS but in WSBK he simply was out of his depth (at that time) and so went back to WSS and familiarity.

To be fair, the reverse can happen as well which is why I like to look across all smaller class riders when assessing for myself as I have no doubt that there are riders in the smaller categories that could rock (not necessarily win, by be competitive) in the larger classes, but due to the results the opportunity will not come

I never considered Pol to have ever been close to the plane Marquez performed at in Moto 2. Sure, he beat him on a few instances, but Marquez dominated Pol, who was on the preferred chassis .

Dovi was chosen by Lorenzo. Nothing that happened afterwards mattered. Nobody wants Iannone as teammate -- not Rossi, nor Marquez, nor Lorenzo. I think Suzuki was the only option for him and I have a feeling Suzuki and Iannone will be great in the role of spoilers next season.

So Ducati themselves were relaxed about him depriving them of a dual podium by allowing his ambition to outweigh his talent, and his 2 in 7 finishing rate in his last 7 races?
