2005 Signs to ride for the factory Ducati Austin team in the AMA Superbike championship, to try and become the first person to win BSB, WSBK and AMA titles. 2004 Moves to MotoGP with the new D'Antin Ducati team, but suffers a disappointing season with the underfunded team on uncompetitive year-old machinery. Best finish of 8th, 17th in championship.
