Great title ....
And visual build up.

In Bautista's defense, he was just going for a "gap". He really hates it when everybody who qualled ahead of him is "holding him up" into turn 1.

If i were VR, i'd demand my bike be painted neon yellow and fitted with a roll cage.

Naw bro Rossi just needs to spray his bike with insect repellent to keep that spanish cockroache at bay

My prediction. MM will lose himself in the moment because he will never let go of the dream

He will not miss a chance to blow thru the field, cause he realizes opportunity comes once in a lifetime

  1. []Rossi
    []JLo
    []Marquez
    []Cal
    []Pedrosa
    []Bradl
    []Espagaro
    []Smith
    []Iannone
    []Pirro

Bautista takes out the factory Ducati's....after race Gresini start rumour they want to sign Cal for 2014 with HRC Support......

So can Bautista make it third time a charm and take anyone else out this race? If I were Rossi I'd make sure I don't qualify anywhere near him after the last two races!

This is a whole new and exciting experience for me, I am used to Friday Practice being on a Thursday at Monaco, but I have never watched a race on a Saturday. I am sure it won't be that different to on a Sunday but it might be. Of course there's also more chance of missing it on a Saturday for me, hopefully that won't happen though.

Alert, alert, I think someone hacked Johnny's account to write this, it doesn't sound like him at all. No obvious insults anywhere, I'm confused :p

Assen = riders track

Lorenzo = best rider atm. End of.

Don't be surprised when , not if , the doctor performs like we expect of him.

Bit surprised everyone was just pointing to mugello and catalunya, hes quite alright in assen as well.

Not that I ever wish for something bad to happen but its inevitable that repsol will have a double dnf . Question is who will be at the right place at the right time to be hailed as the second coming of crutchlow ehhh jesus

OK, that was actually very funny.

I believe if MM has one shot or one opportunity to seize everything he ever wanted.....one moment. He would capture and not let it slip

Even if his palms are sweaty, knees weak and arms heavy

1.  Lorenzo

2. Rossi

3. MM

4. Crutch

5. Bradl

6.  Dovi

7. Hayden

Do we care about the rest?

Bautista bombs into pedrosa, pedro cries, and bautista keeps his helmet on all race again so the cameras cant see his guilty face.

I actually thought VR would perform much better at Catalunya.  In fact, I don't think we have really seen his potential yet, which I would say is more like Qatar and less like Austin.  I think we have been a bit skewed by Bautista taking him out at Mugello, where I think he could have had a good run.  He did after all claim to have a mechanical issue in Texas.  We often chalk it up to excuse making, but I have no reason to disbelieve him, as the same goes with Lorenzo and his bum tire at Le Mans.  But if you consider, after Qatar, VR had a slew of bad luck, mechanical in Austin, a crash at Le Mans in tricky condition (he is after all human), and Bautista at Mugello.  Assen can be one of his good tracks because I think the Honda's forte might be a bit buffered.  I'll predict a close race and VR in the mix.

Alex Barros was at Catalunya, and seeing him on the feed reminded me just how much of an underrated rider he was in GP.  Arrabi mentioned the skewed parity of VR's Honda in 02-03, and a good example of this was Assen 02.  I remember VR sandbagging behind Barros then blasted past him on the "straight".  The four stroke Honda's acceleration pounced on Barros' NSR500, who was riding his heart out at the lead.  But, its also worth mentioning that VR master this track.

Btw, I should mention, speaking of Barros, he was not given enough credit for developing the M1, despite his calls for such improvements that VR eventually got.  AND, I'll add, its been said that VR's competition was subpar to today's new crop of riders, something I disagree with given the parity picture was previously decidedly in favor of VR while today the rookies are propped up on the best factory machines.  Barros is a good example, take a look at how much better his results were after he traded the NSR500 for a RC211V.  I can't remember off hand but I think he was on or near the podium after he made the switch.

Oh you don't have to tell me about barros been a big fan since his 500 days.

Sure its been repeated to death how great he could brake but I van only advise the ones who haven't watched him to see some of those races in the classic gp series.more than assen where apart from that awesome double overtake in the chicane he was hopelessly outgunned, le mans 2003 is more a prime example.i have no doubt that had he been given that repsol bike earlier and In good health he could have achieved a lot more

I think he won on his first appearance on the 4 stroke?.

I also think he was the last to stick a two-stroke on the podium?

But then he made the ill-fated/ill-advised switch to the M1 for 2003...

Barros was an interesting one. When he was on the Cagiva, I pretty much wrote him off as buying the ride. He never set the world alight on anything, but his performance at the end of 2002 was one of the only things that kept us from turning the telly off after the 250 race.

Doc, ur right, as soon as I pressed the post button I remembered, .... he won some straight away not just "on or near the podium". I remember now as u said, because his wins are what kept me from turning off the season review a few years ago when I was watching 02. I went back to do a bit of BJCing and was pleasantly reminded. Thing is I knew this, must be getting old. Well ...., now I'll declare with more conviction, Barros was an underrated rider.

Btw i attempted to make case that VR's challengers during FUC era were not inferior, Roberts who lead that race early on (Assen 02) was riding the Shitzuki, if memory serves me correctly (and I know somebody will correct me if im wrong) but he started the season on Dunlops and then switched to Michelin, as these were the tires to be on.

Thanks for the heads up on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Easy to forget.

1 - Pedro

2 - Marquez

3 - Jorge

4 - Rossi

5 - Cal

6 - Nicky

Best CRT? - Seriously who gives a ....?

Some rain might liven things up a little for the Ducati boys. Please!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised at the lack of a chance given to Dani, apart from a cople of DNFs, he's been a solid second place getter here. I know Rossi has won a bunch of races at Assen, but that's when he was riding well. I think it is going to be business as usual for the Three Amigos and the Italians are going to be led by Dovi.

Pedrosa,

Lorenzo.

Marquez.

But... the tyre temperature could be problematic for the Hondas. In which case, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Marquez.

Pedro holds the record at Assen.

Lorenzo considers it one of his favorite tracks.

Rossi was capable to win from 13th on the grid there in 2007, beating Stoner.

Marquez will be competitive as usual.

It could be a really nice race. Let's hope, last round was rather boring.
