as soon as he was off the bike he was crying into the 1st mic put in front of him...

<

well..... strange race to say the least! but gripingly entertaining!!! never thought to hear myself saying, hayden saved by the rain! it was lookin like a dissaster for him until! poor nakano was lookin good there for a bit. don't think he coulda won, but a podium was possible. pedders took a big hit to his championship aspirations. rossi well..... typical really don't expect anything less from him. gibbers so close to the podium... the curse lives! melandri... a brilliant job. still very much in the hunt! and vermulen, man i was really pullin for him to win. so close. but hey 2nd still gotta be sweet for him. ole hopper must really be bummed. 5 seasons & no poles or podiums & the mole has got both his 1st season. bring on japan!
<

Have to say that despite the strangeness of the race it was still pretty exciting. Watching Rossi catching Gibber was awesome and then getting him on the last turn
<
Love it! Great race from Marco, I think he was lucky to get away when he did so he had a good gap by the time Rossi figured out that he could go quicker! If only he had of figured it out a few laps earlier!

Was standing outside the Suzuki garage when they brought out CV's rear tyre and as Paul Denning put it, "He's turned this fcking wet into a slick!" which was pretty accurate. I didn't see anyone elses tyres but his was pretty shredded!

21 points to go! Bring it on!

Love it!

It was a very strange race. I was wondering what happened to Gibbers in the last laps and came across the article below.

Despite what the Rossi fans think, I feel it was Gibber's who showed he had the pace early on and it looked like it was his race to win.

-------------

The 33-year-old Spaniard swept into the lead when rain hit the circuit and looked set for his first win in over two years as he began pulling away from his pursuers.

But, as the track dried out in the final 10 laps, his Bridgestone tyres began to overheat and disintegrate, leaving him with little or no grip.

He could not prevent Italian Marco Melandri and Australian Chris Vermeulen from passing him for first and second and then saw Valentino Rossi snatch third on the last lap of the race.

A disconsolate Gibernau, who finished fourth, said: “It's really, really disappointing. I think we did everything right so to finish like this is not what we wanted.

“We had very good pace in dry and we were able to go by others one by one to go second quite early on.

“When running in the wet I was speeding, but when it dried, the tyre tore apart. Even with wear we had a good chance of victory, but it didn't happen. I feel sorry for the guys back home because this was our race.””

------------

I guess he just didn't do as good a job of conserving his tyres. CV was also on Bridgestones. Rossi didn't get going until later in the race so I guess he had better grip at the end. Gibber lost it for himself.

"I feel sorry for the guys back home because this was our race.” Obviously not!

I'm sorry, but I have to say I thought the PI race was poor at best.

Roll on Motegi.

(oh & Gibernau definitely deserved a podium.)

I'm so tired of some members discounting certain riders' performances simply because of their name. Give it a rest. Gibbers had that race won and had it not dried out and had his rear not developed bald spots four inches wide, he would have beaten every single rider in the field. You can't compare tire wear between Gibernau and Vermeulen simply because of the fact that they are both on Bridgestones. I'm not sure what wet weather compounds either were using but even designating them as using "hard," "medium," or "soft" is only relative as each rider has many options of each compound.

Personally, I hope Gibbers comes back strong and takes a win or two in the remaining races and gives a big http://www.motogpforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/.....gif to all you haters.

Ooost! englands changin ya! good to see u gettin fired up!

First off I am not a Gibber hater. He is not my first choice of someone I would like to win but I do not hate him. My point is that you don't have the race won until you cross the line first. You can't say that if it had have been either full wet or full dry he would have won because there would have been a number of other riders who would have been up there. I just don't think he rode as smart as some of the others to conserve his tyres, which is so important in this game. (All Bridgestone teams were on soft wets, how many soft wet compounds there are I don't know). I can appreciate a good ride from anyone but IMO that was not one of them.

I am not a fan of Gibbers to be honest with you. Like I have said before, I give respect where it is due.

But yea, a bad ride you know?
After two collarbone surgeries.
Being out for the main "meat" of the season.
Being shown up by your teammate all the time.
Trying to prove you still got what it takes to go fast. (i.e. not Tamada)

Yea, real bad ride for him there....

But hey, I can't change your mind. Thats just our opinions.
Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one.

didn't say bad ride, just don't think it was good enough to win the race... IMO!

I think too much has been read into what I wrote. My first comment about Rossi getting Gibber on the last corner wasn't a dig at Gibber, it was what he did not who he did it too. Didn't mean to ruffle so many feathers.

No, I know you're not having a dig at Gibbers and I'm not trying to personally attack you either just so that's clear. It's just that a lot of people discount anything he does because he was Rossi's biggest rival. I myself used to discount everything he did for other reasons but now that he's at Ducati, I am becoming a Gibbers fan. Just to be clear, not trying to have a dig at you viva, no hard feelings.

Fair enough viva, I did not mean to single you out.

Just tryed to present some facts about the race. He didn't run a bad race it was the conditions. My opinion, my a$$hole lol

I agree with you Ooust 100%.

Definately no hard feelings, the reason for this place is so everyone can voice their opinions. I'll just be careful how I word what I want to say from now on!
