Congratulations :)
Vermulen is a nice guy. Met him on Assen two, or is it three, years ago.

I heard Mamola reported that Vermulen's rear looked like a shredded slick tire, not like a shredded rain tire. Maybe it's the HP these bikes have, otherwise I would have expected lap-times to raise even more for a period. When the knobs are about to go it is hell to ride on those tires. There were actually a lot less sideways riding than I expected considering the conditions.

if honda lodge a complaint against rossi, how would the championship picture look like,is that it for rossi???

melandri was electric..one handed slide out of the last corner!!!mcn this week had a little rumour suggesting he wanted the gresini honda next year to run on bridgestones
<
maybe he'll change he's mind

can't wait for motegi(they should go to sugo).

Super Rossi! I just can't believe this guy.
<
Woohoo!

The race was so nuts that why there weren't ten crashes was down to the experience of the riders but mainly to the power delivery control. I don't know, those 990 cc. are way too heavy.

Pedrosa was the big loser coming out of the pinguins circuit. What else does he need to relax now? And it was so amazing watching Gibernau desperately looking for wet lines and Melandri for the dry ones, unbelievable. And thank you for smoking the last corner, one-handed, you won my smile there, sir.

Fascinating race, which would have been even more so if EUROSPORT HADN'T SCREWED IT UP BY SHOWING THE RESULTS ON-SCREEN AT THE START OF THE RACE, NICE WORK GUYS
<

Almost carnage in pitlane during the tyre changes, Hayden nearly took someone out. Sete rode a blinder, that'll do his confidence no harm, as did Rossi, rode a very canny race, maybe too careful in the early stages. Dani, well he's never been on a 4stroke in the wet. Nicky came good towards the end, he might take the title after all. Bloody Eurosport.

Results stand.

What a race!!! So many things happened, we finally got to see the bike swapping rule.

Unfortunately the rain spoiled what could've been a Kawa win!!!
<

Though that rain saved Nicky's championship bid (and my bet)!!

Dani struggled like a pig in the wet race, that was predictable, what surprised me was seeing Kenny Jr right at the back with Dani, Kenny is a real wet expert but I guess the conditions were not really wet, just damp track.

Vermeulen is proving to be another wet expert, his 2nd position was a great achievement beating another wet specialist like Gibernau.

And then there's of course Marco, I don't remember Melandri ever being so fast on wet, maybe he is a (damp track specialist
<
) but his pace was superb, at times 2 seconds faster than the rest of the riders.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Katt @ Sep 17 2006, 12:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>has anyone got any news on how Edwards is?? .... that crash looked pretty nasty...

from the clinica mobile website:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Colin Edwards suffered a left elbow and lumbar sacral contusion in crashing during the race. He should be fit for motegi but will be checked again by the Australian medics before leaving the country.

Sweet race! Rossi had that race it were dry, anyone watch him like pass about 8 in like the last 2 dry laps?

Maybe Roberts had to change tires. That was the only reason I could see why he dropped to around last place. HRC may have only gave him one engine. Dose anyone have more info?

Poor Kawa fans.. I was pulling for ya!!

Apparently KRJR crashed somewhere and rejoined back in 16th. Eurosport said they missed it because everyone was just changing tyres.

Great race by Melandri, Sete and especially by Chris Vermeulen. What a great ride, there's no doubting his talent now. GET YOURSELF A REAL BIKE CHRIS!

they said apparently nakano's tyres would only have been good for 10 laps before they ended up changing bikes anyway.

interesting race... now we know the script for a bike change should it happen again. bit chaotic in the pits mind, who did hayden nearly knock off?? speaking of hayden man is he lucky the rain came.. what a start! from pole to 16th. and they said they'd solved his clutch problems.. yeah right!!

It was Capirossi. It was really close as hayden drove out in the fast lane in the pit without checking.

He was lucky in many ways today. Rain stopped his catastrophic race pace in the dry, avoided a close call in pit, out on the white marker om slicks in rain, Pedrosa more or less out of the CS fight. And there was nothing wrong with the clutch, at least not very wrong. He came off the start line pretty well, it was the first three turns that were a disaster for both him and Rossi but while Rossi sort of hung in there Hayden was obviously without any confidence in the bike and the grip.
No doubt it would have looked a lot worse for nicky without the rain.

Breathtaking and entertainment at its highest, just about sums ift up for me!

You beat me to it! He was on a mission after a slow start and before coming in to change the bike. It was a shame to see his winning streak broken.

Rossi's yellow flag incident:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BBC)<div class='quotemain'>Hayden was later reported to have claimed Rossi made a passing manoeuvre on Casey Stoner when the yellow flags were out but no official protest was lodged with stewards.

Great Race!! It was crazy how there wasn't a drop of rain until the riders got on the grid. I think it made it all the more interesting.

KRJR ran off the track over in Lukey Heights around lap 5 or 6 (i was sitting there). I can't really remember which one it was. Overall for my first race ever, it was AWESOME.

I just wanted to say thanks to vivaildottore for the ride to the track and the paddock passes on Saturday.

After the race we were cutting through the infield and as we walked by the jumbo-screen I heard some gal say "awwwe poor gibbers", So I turned around and said, "he should be used to it"

Well Done Vermulen! Awsome stuff. Was worried for a second there after looking at the QP results, but, maaaaan what an effort!

The CYT press release said edwards was winded but not injured, so I guess he`s ok for Motegi.

Getting used to team Green dissapiontments now...

Pants..............KRJR for obvious reasons! Well done to everyone else though........SUZUKI??????? hat's off
<
Good stuff.

Real great stuff from Melandri and Vermeulen. You gotta feel for poor ol' Gibbers. He looked like he would finally snag a podium and a very respectable result. Hope he continues this string of form.
