Thanks for the OP build up post Bud, though it would be nice if you guys coordinate to just one pre-race thread.
I kinda like the "Build Up" moniker, but it does throw me off from what I'm used to: "GP"X" Predictions, Practice, Qual" thread title format. But sometimes change is good.
A few thoughts after Q. For me the performance of the day belongs to Cal Crutchlow. It was between him and Pedrosa obviously, though the pole man lapped incredibly fast, the fastest motorcycle ever, I just feel that this is more expected given the conditions and the fact hes on the undisputed best bike on the grid. Crutchlow on the other hand is on a satellite bike (probably very close to the factory spec) and out qualled both the factory riders. Valentino Rossi should be embarrassed on two counts, getting out qualled by Crutchlow AND Nicky on a Ducati. Wait...I just remembered, actually three counts, he also got out qualled by a snot nosed rookie Marquez too.
I'm gonna say it now, I'll be holding my breath for tomorrow's start. Bautista, with the aid of a Barbera style tow, was able to get into the 2nd row along side Nicky. I have already booked my standby flight, if in the likely event he takes out Hayden, his face will look a bit like Barbera face after his girlfriend ..... slapped his ....
However, if Charlie St. Cloud goes bowling ball on the front three and Nicky wins, I will send him flowers and a midget male escort to his hotel.
Bradl had a very poor qual performance, given Alvaro being up there. If he comes top 5 after the race, I hope they don't celebrate again like they won the World Series. I'm gonna go easy on Smith, only because he is injured and is soldiering through pain. I don't think his qual position would have been any better if he were healthy, but hats off to him for maning up. Pirro's and Dovi's performance is proof that the Ducati "lab" bike is a ...... bike and most likely worse than the ART.
Also, it pains me to see Aoyama bruised and battered this way. He is a good rider but has not regained his form after many injuries. It really too bad because he is such a good guy.
