I think Rossi had a fair chance of winning without the engine failure, although Jorge on this occasion as well as MM was just as fast at the end of the race as at the beginning. Bad management by Yamaha actually as the Australian TV coverage was suggesting; if they were well ahead with engine usage why not change the engines of both riders after a catastrophic failure for one rider of an engine with presumably similar wear.

I would suggest to that certain element among Rossi fandom that invoking karma after qualifying results can come back to bite you though.

My guess is that there's a certain tolerance limit they look for with the engine that determines fitness of, or lack thereof. Rossi's engine probably passed their tests just fine. It's possible that the effort required to keep up with Jorge may have put far greater strain on the engine than was expected. Saying that they should have changed the engine is more hindsight than anything imo...yes they should have when one looks at the results. But they probably had good enough reasons to not do it. However, they will probably tell the media they failed Rossi and that they should have changed the engine which is laughable as Jarvis no doubt signed off on using the engine. If Lorenzo's morning warm-up failure was that concerning, Rossi would have had a new engine in the M1 no question asked.

I had to laugh when the lights went out and Lorenzo just screamed past everyone to grab the lead. The crowd was stunned when they saw Lorenzo come out of San Donato right in front. That win also ended the streak of the last 8 race winners coming from pole position.

Maybe 5 fans left earlier, the massive crowd is still there.

I had the feeling Rossi was getting frustrated because every single overtake move he uses on guys, he couldn't even get them off. You could as they came down to Casanova, that he was trying to dive up the inside of Lorenzo as he is wont to do, in an effort to run Lorenzo wide so he could take the position. It never materialized as his braking point was not deep enough to get past Lorenzo. Metronomic precision from Lorenzo.

In a way, I wonder if his engine blowing up saved us something later in the race. MM getting involved in that battle might have fried Rossi out and created unnecessary fireworks.

I was thinking the same and was waiting for the kick! :D

What does that tells you about the yellow .... fans............. It is not about the race. It is about their mustard god.

It's not about the race for any of you....90% of you don't even know what a real race is

You heard it here first: There's video of the Toad putting sugar into Vale's gas tank. Really. Of course it will go into the same can as the famous Honda telemetry which showed that Marquez put it into Rossi in Sepang. Here's proof. Now its gone.

I'll give it to the Toad for pulling off the win although I wanted so much to hear him whine why he lost this one.

Fans wanting Valentino to show up and thank their support, and their god didn't bothered to appear before them. What class!
