2.West

Actually thought about putting Westy in there but I think he`ll need some time to settle but if I`m proved wrong then I`ll be delighted even so.

Elias might be out or recovering at least

Redding Simon for a podium

lets see how the first GP pans out

Yeah I don't think he's there. He has a broken ankle and finger and had surgery only a few days ago. I can't see him riding so early after a procedure. I'll likely be proved wrong.

For the first race in Qatar:

1. Simon
2. Elias (if he shows up and claims to be ok)
3. West
4. De Angelis
5. Redding
6. Noyes
7. Hernandez

Some of these guys have been posting good times in test sessions due to experience with the Spanish tracks. I think the vets that have Qatar experience are going to go well at the first round. I do think however that Elias is the overall favorite for the year. I certainly hope the class lives up to the hype of close/tight racing that we are expecting. Last test the top 15 were all within a little less then a second of each other. I love that there are so many different engineers involved with all the various chassis' that are available. Besides the obvious control engine, it feels very prototype-ish at this stage. It's going to be interesting to see who has gotten it right.

By rights it should be close,I read a race report on the Thundersports GP race at my local track ,Mallory Park, earlier. They run 450cc singles on a similar set up to moto2 and for the 5 laps that they ran it was a 7or 8 bike freight train to the finish line.Yes its only club level but all on similar set ups it produced some of the best racing they had seen for some time.Heres hoping.

I love the idea of the 450cc singles. Great starter class for youth or inexpensive way for weekend warriors that have access to a track.

Simon.

I would really like to see Westy impress. He seems to come into his own on a <strike>supersport</strike> sorry 600cc bike

1.simon
2. elias
3. noyes
4. corti
5. redding

both elias & noyes are hurt so that could play into things...

Impossible to predict. We don't know nearly enough yet to make any reasonable judgement.

Simon, above Elias, or De Angelis... but watch darkhorse Pasini, he won his first 250cc race there

Do these Moto2 bikes require more physical input than a 250 two stroke? I can't see that they significantly would. The speculation was, that 250 would be about the limit of Pasini's physical capability due to the nerve damage/limited mobility of his right arm, which is why the test on the satellite GP9 last year was so significant - to see whether he could physically handle a MotoGP bike.

Sorry, still have to laugh at the seizure at Catalunya

The Japanese commentary makes it even funnier:
