Don't you remember just how much of an animal the Duck was 5 years ago when they first came into Motogp. And how Capi was the only one capable of taming it then. Or how much Bayliss struggled as Capi's team mate. Or, indeed, after more of Capi's input, when Bayliss came back for Valencia last year...
I really believe that Capi has put huge amounts of effort getting Ducati to where they are now in Motogp. Sure, he did the work on 990's, but five years ago Duke had no Motogp experience.....
As far as the 800 is concerned I think it's about old dogs. The TC is such a defining issue this year, especially on the Duke (where it is said that the system "learns" from the way the rider uses the system)
I Don't doubt Capirossi's effort to make this bike what it is today but I also think that the bike was very good last year. Not a beast anymore. The reason I say this is that with Capirossi on top it still look like a beast, shaking out of every second turn, while both Bayliss and Stoner could make it a winner at first try.
