JUST MORE EXCUSES. no not because he cant adapt, he dont have the support, not because its a new bike

JUST FACE IT MELANDRI DONT HAVE THE TALENT TO WIN A WC.

He was apparently on capirossi's old bike. I would wait till he has a go on stoner's bike or has a chance to set the bike up himself before passing even preliminary judgement.

Hey, horhey, put the crack pipe down and chill out. You're boring us all to death.

One thing that Stoner, Melandri and Rossi share is that they are racers. I think Pedrosa is more of a lapper. If he is in front he can lap very fast but he lacks the strength to fight in close. I have seen Melandri brake check Gibernau and freak him out so he wiped out so if he can get a consistent setup on a good machine he's top 3 material.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(gsfan @ Nov 11 2007, 02:46 PM) <div class='quotemain'> I think Pedrosa is more of a lapper.

I see your point gsfan and up until the last third of this season I might have agreed with you. As soon as Honda got the front end right and could give Dani and Nicky the confidence they so strongly complained was lacking at the start of the year, the results vastly improved and Dani reallly mixed it. His style is still very fast corner entry, very front end, very 250.
Pedrosa is more skilled as a racer than many people seem to give him credit for. You don't win 3 world titles in 125 and 250 by being a lapper.
Compare Dani at Brno 2006 to Estoril 2007 for example.....

Marco seems to get his .... on when Valentino is around him, like at Donnington. Its kinda funny but he knows Vale is the big boy in Italy and hes the small one right now.

That could change. Marco being a well loved Italian on the ducati, at a time when Rossi's not getting up to much in the championship while being plastered all over the evening news over tax issues on a daily basis could well result in Marco turning into the next golden boy. You folks outside of Italy don't seem to realise what a level of hate campaign has been going on since the tax issue .... hit the fan. The italian media used to love to love him, now they love to hate him and Marco's right there ready to step into his place.

2006 could have been Marco's year. Gibernau turned the championship on its head in Catalunya. Remember Marco having to race with a broken collarbone? His performance that season was given a good kick in the gut.
And in 2007 the honda was crap and he was the only honda rider on bridgestones so they had pretty little data to work with anyway. So I'd write the year off anyway. He did better than last year's world champion.

As for his performance so far on the Ducati...he said he rode Capirossi's bike without changing a single thing on the settings etc. We all know Loris never managed to find a good set up this season. He just wanted to get a feel for it. The real work starts at the next tests. Too early to talk, but I think Macio will be a force to be reckoned with in 08.

jeeez the beer googles everyones got here.

the guy does 3 days of testing 150 laps and doesnt change a thing from caparossi's setup?????!?!?!?

yeah right, if they wanted stoners "secret special one of a kind setup" they would of done so in an hour, heck even shumie got a hold of stoners bike.

Why is Vale copping a hate campaign just because of tax issues?
Just about everyone with a quid tries to get out of paying as much tax as possible. It's his Accountants job to do that for him.

seems strange that the italians are turning against rossi because of this tax issue. after all its his management team that would be responsible for such thing i would have thought.
rossi lives in london so i presume he pays british tax anyway. does marco still live in london ? lewis hamilton has just buggered off to Switzerland to avoid paying higher taxes but most british people's attitude is fair play to you mate ,dont blame you.

I wouldn't mind really as i like Melandri as a rider but you can see how much he wants to beat Rossi almost for pride and that could be a great battle.

Even the engine on capirossi's bike is supposed to be different.

In any case this was actually a testing session, not a race between him and casey. Why should he bust his gut setting up an obsolete bike? Casey himself was probably trying to make a point to honda that they may not have caught up depite pedrosa's win.

yeah u dont think he was going 100%?

testing session, practice, private testing, its all competition

he needs to prove himself now, no excuses, what better way then come onto a foreign bike and be fast straight off the bat.

first test he has failed.

Well yeah you are right on the Tax issue .... many Autralian's would have said .... "good on ya Vale" ..... and indeed its been dropped by the media here ... never was much of an issue .....

Makes me feel then that a lot of the Rossi fan sensitivity doesn't just come from the results of GP .... if the media is laying into him then yeah ... the fans would be sensitive.

You don't know ...., as you have demonstrated time and time again.

In fact, before the 2005 season, during the entire pre-season testing period, Melandri put tape over the lap time recorder function on his bike. Why? To ignore the pressure of lap times, and develop a good feeling with the new Honda.

It is at least very likely that he does not have lap times in mind at this early point, merely the all important ability to develop a good feeling and understanding with the bike.

You don't ride, do you?

on his day marco can beat em all..... on his day. he needs to be more consistent than he has been in the past. he's a hot & cold racer & he needs to get rid of the cold. hopefully he can get to grips with the duke & be up there fightin every round!

hot & cold racer
spot on mate.
