Marquez not a team mate blocker like rossi

I think Kawasaki has a homologation special (the ZX-10RR) which will be dearer. The standard ZX10R won't increase in price much, AFAIK.

Yes, I said the ZX10RR . The Zx10R will stay much the same and may actually go down a hair. The ZX6R is having a huge price drop to a base price of 9900 from 11299.00. Haven’t heard yet what or if they are excluding on the bike to do this or if they finally realized that 12k with freight and setup was a tad high for a 600 . Lol

Is there really any point to buying a new 600 anymore?

Other than racing classes I can't see a good reason. You get slightly better mileage but if thats your concern you don't buy a sports bike.

I own a 600 for the record but if I was buying new I would probably spend the extra to get the thou.

Kawasaki has hugely upgraded ZX10RR for 19 in anticipation of the new Ducati. The showroom model is rumored to be increasing 5-6 grand for these upgrades.

I hope their panel fit is better than it was 15 years ago, it was appalling.

If you are honest with yourself, a 600 is massively overpowered on todays roads. On track a 600 is way better than the litre class especially on bends.

I used to race 500's, on a trackday you'd get all the idiots out on their 900-1300 rocketships, yet most people on a 500 or a 600 would run rings round them. MPG has nothing to do with it, it how you use it.

I agree the 600 is plenty for the road it just seems that the thou has better/more development and more options. However if I buy another track bike it'll likely be a 600 unless I get another RVG or something similar.

I prefer 600s. The only issue is that there's been no development since 2007. A modern 600 with all the bits thrown at it would be extremely light and capable.

When will they give us what we all want - an injected 500 2 stroke!

Because they had those and wsbk was seen as the premier bike. So they went gp 1000s 4 stroke which whooped the 2 strokes.

Yeah, but I don't care about whether a 4 stroke 1000cc bike can run laptimes that are a few tenths, or even a second or two faster than a 500cc two stroke. For me, a two stroke 500 is more than fast enough, but (crucially) much more fun.

I rode an 09 Yamaha TZ250 (completely standard) and it was the best bike I've ever ridden. I reckon I'd be faster on my Supersport-spec R6...but I'd pick the TZ250 any day of the week.

Laptimes aren't the be-all and end-all for many riders - fun is the aim. Many find a superlight 2 stroke more enjoyable than a more powerful but heavier 4 stroke.

You want to try riding either a 400 or 500 cc 2 stroke bike, the revs are ludicrous, just take a look at some of the 500 gp races when it was 2 stroke at launch on the grid, absolute mayhem.

True - but electronics and fuel injection tech is light years improved from olden times. Two strokes really are that much more fun. They even smell better. The old RZV 500R are one of the most desired, most collectible bikes more than 30 years after they stopped making them. The sound from the exhaust will give you wood.

One of my best mates has just completed restoring a Yamaha RD400 which he rode to a regular dinner we have. Classic bike.

The power band was ludicrous , but as revs go, today’s bikes turn thousands more rpm’s than the smokers.

RD400s were crude little missiles much loved in their time. The later RZ350s we had here were great inexpensive bikes that were very competitive against much bigger bikes in club races.

Just as a case in point, when I raced it was all 2 strokes, I used to have the mother of all hangovers after a weekend spent smelling Castrol R

After I stopped racing I wanted a VFR 400 NC30, sadly because of my height I couldn't ride one it was far to tiny hahaha
