Marquez not a team mate blocker like rossi

Lorenzo also admitted his first test on Honda machinery in November’s post-Valencia test is likely to be an eye-opener.

“For sure it’s going to be a shock the first time I jump on the bike, you only have to see the difference in size [compared to the Ducati],” he said.

Talk about an understatement. I'm sure he's seen enough of the Hondas in action, and in particular, how MM has had to ride them to get on to the top spot on the podium. Mr. Smoothe is going to miss that nice stable Ducati platform. If he does well with HRC - it will put him in the running for legend status. I don't envy him the press of having to reinvent himself.

I think the Ducati has been a good prepping ground for him. He should be able to employ his sweeping style in the RCV. I think Lorenzo will be Dani V2.0

Marquez won't gain anything but motivation from Lorenzo becoming his team-mate.

He'll want to smoke him soooo badly. I reckon he will but it won't be easy.

Is it 2019 yet??

Shhh... I'm pretending there's a chance in hell that the championship won't be decided at Motegi; followed by a lukewarm "Mundialito". (Copyright Jumkie)

That's what I believe too. I think the first half of 2019 Marc will have the edge. But after that I think it will be full on pressure. From there on, I think we will see a change in Marc's riding style.

Doesn't need a new thread so will post it here.

Johnny Rea reckons that he could do better than Cal Crutchlow.

He is certainly the class of the field at the moment in Superbikes, but I still think he'd be only as good as Cal, whom is doing pretty well these last few seasons.

Do you think he should have an attempt at a Satellite ride? I'd like to see him take the challenge, but don't think he would.

Much as I like Mr Rea, and he is a noteworthy rider, he's talking crap, but it'd be nice to see him try.
Must admit though I'd have liked to see him on thee Honda instead of Lorenzo.

It's hard not to wonder what-if, especially after the 2017 tests which displayed results that Rea might have the potential to be competitive against the MotoGp field. (Jonathan Rea faster than MotoGP Riders at Jerez | MCNews.com.au)
How Rea would be able to get his head around a different animal that is Motogp machine is another thing though. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in seeing what he could do on Cal's bike at the Valencia test.

From memory Reas 2012 results weren’t too bad on the HRC bike. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he could mix it with cal on the current one.

Isn't Cal's financial net worth more than JR, in terms of career earning?

Rea is better than Cal.

Everything would seem to indicate this, Cal wasn’t even ever WSBK champion.

For whatever reason superbikes don’t seem to be much of a path to motogp now, Ben Spies being the only other relatively recent ex super bike guy of any note.

I always thought Spies could've done more. He fell into a negative spiral of confidence. He beat Dovi (on the Repsol Honda) on his first ride on the Yamaha (a wildcard at Valencia). He had a lot of talent and needed to keep at it and wait for a turn in his fortunes like Dovi. Alas, the injury finished his career. A great shame.

Can't blame him. He was given a cracked chassis at Laguna iirc.

As Michael M would say, I'm a Spies "tragic". He had massive talent, and while he did suffer some bad luck, I think much of it was self-inflicted as a result of having his mum as his manager, and importantly, hiring his old Superbike crew running his garage. What a waste. At least unlike Mladin, he gave it a shot.
