looks like plans to restrict GP bikes to 800cc next year what is the point in that maybe they think it will even the competition out they really have no idea

i once said if they keep going faster say a sec a year then 1 day they will dissapear up there own arses, but its good fast fun at present, less power more control....... closer racin

but the lower cc wont equal a massive loss in power but the bike will be lighter and probably use less fuel so they can make them more thirsty so they will probably lap just as quick the only effect it might have is the top speed
the lower cc may also be easier on the tyres so the riders can continue doing quick laps till the end
possibly it will make for closer racing

The only reason in this is the safety concern. In 2002 you couldn't get much over 200mph and now the Desmosidici holds the record of 214 mph, thats a dramatic increase for only 2 years of development. If the bikes keep developing at the rate they are they will soon outgrow the tracks they presently use. Dorna and the powers that be feel that a reduction in engine size is the cheaper alternative to making enormous saftey changes at nearly every track.

it's like going back in time if they make the cc lower and so the cycle will start all over again with the road bikes which will hopefully mean a revival of the 750's again after their demise thanx to an italian company, ducati.lighter, better handling, screaming engines with the looks and performance to go, 2-strokes are dead so the big boys are gonna have to create revolutions higher up the ladder.what happened to the gp2 4-stroke plans by the way?

Excellent question about the GP2 plans. I was really looking forward to seeing that. I haven't heard anything about the plans since 2002. It would certainly help those riders adjust to MotoGP quicker and more smoothly.

the 125, and 250 classes should put them into the right path, just look at valentino,
1 year to learn then bang wins the class thats why the yanks struggle a bit probably, but gp 2 would b ideal too.
