Oh please . . . is there anyone out there who doesn't ....... know that the riders wear leather suits and protective gear??? Is there a link I can watch the podium interviews on the computer? Here in the US they didn't show anything but a quick interview with Rossi immediately after the race. Anybody has it I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

They are up on the MotoGP site. I think it is free to register?
Don't know, I've been ripped off by them for years.

Wrong.
You have to buy a package.

I'm off to watch them now.

Great race, pitty Stoner had to go noob it up to prevent what would have been an epic finish. Great rides from Vermulen and Rossi, my two faves as well

And Stoner needs to stop taking the bitter tablets, they do only harm to his image. If anything he should have enjoyed such a good battle with Rossi, afterall isn't that the reason they are into racing in the first place?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (sarto @ Jul 20 2008, 10:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Is he American?

yes, an american who clearly doesn't watch motogp.

i have mixed opinions on the race today. it was amazing to say the least. it reminded me of the days of sete vs rossi, and biaggi vs rossi. just absolute brutally aggressive racing which is the way it should be.

i like casey because he rides with balls ON the track, and is not afraid to get into a battle with anyone. but the second he is OFF the track, the whining begins. earlier in this topic someone pointed out that rossi is oldschool motogp and casey is new, and casey represents the new style of racing in the series. the style of playing it safe and letting the electronics ride the bike instead of the rider. while I pray to everything i hold sacred that he is wrong, i fear that he is spot on.

when someone nips at his heels casey will ride just as hard as any of the older riders but i dont think he wants to be doing it.

everything is too safe in motogp, and it is starting to show. this was one of the few races so far this season that couldn't be considered a cure for insomnia.

i just hope the rivalry and close racing will continue

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (jazkat @ Jul 21 2008, 02:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>i was just saying casey doesnt like scrapping like that thats all..

I actually think he does enjoy scrapping but that what we saw today was above what he had experienced in the past and it therefore unsettled him a bit, no more, no less.

IMO, CS likes to scrap clean and hard and in his opinion some of the scrapping today was outside what he considers fair (what we believe is irrelevant in the situation). But, no doubt he watched and learnt enough to take it on board and we will one day see him do similar if it is ever required.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vale4607 @ Jul 21 2008, 02:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I like whiny a lot. To sit in an interview next to Rossi and say that his passes were .... is magic.

I have to be honest and say whether people see CS' comments as a whine a whinge or whatever it takes a lot of balls to sit in a press conference beside the very person and say what CS has said (whether you agree or not).

He would know that by making those comments he will guarantee negative headlines and bring the ire of many down upon himself, but he went ahead any way.

Got back from the track, man was that amazing to see in person. Expecting the most boring race of the year and got the best!!!! Seeing Vale kiss the corkscrew in person was awesome.

I still haven't seen the race but in a way I am relieved that casey had the off because when I heard the result my first thought was that if valentino was just flat-out faster than stoner/ducati at this time, even before presumed updates over the break, the championship was over. It seems like it is still game on; may the best rider and bike win.

I have only seen photos of the corkscrew incident; seems like a racing incident. I will say that when casey had his second off at jerez and managed to keep the bike upright and not take out the other 2 riders this was interpreted by many as showing impetuosity and succumbing to pressure; this incident which superficially would seem somewhat similar apparently demonstrated valentino's genius and bike control

. Pending further vision I would say both did well in the circumstances.

Now, Tom Cruise is a short dude to begin with, but look at Casey. He's even smaller than his waifish wife.

This only points to one thing.....

he's got short man's disease...

Nah dude, its cause everyon in the photo bar Stoner is wearing heels!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (sarto @ Jul 20 2008, 06:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Why?

My Opera crashed on me while watching the live feed, which was back to its horrendous worst again for today's race.

Eventually I opened Crazy Browser, but still had a crappy feed.

Anybody else have this problem?

I like it but it's flakey. I hit submit and it just sat there like it was locked up. I hit submit again to it puts up 2 posts.

I like it but it's flakey, crashes and doesn't work on certain sites.

I like Firefox, but it has issues with embedded video. It seems to work ok at first, but then dies after a while. I haven't looked it up, but just might do so.

Did anybody else have a problem with the live streaming feed from MotoGP.
I have the Hi-Res package, but it wouldn't even stream on the lower res.
I doubt they will get any money out of me next year.

What kind of Leather Jacket is that Cruise has on? It better be a Langlietz or a Vanson or he needs his ... whooped.

People Jeremy Burgess has said it best:

`I think that if Casey had raced in the 80´s and 90´s with Kevin Schwantz, Wayne Rainey and Mick Doohan, then he´d have seen that kind sort of thing every week."

Stoner made a mistake and ran wide at turn 1 giving Rossi a 1 sec lead. Stoner closed it to nothing in 2 laps.

I went back and rewatched from turn 2 with 29 laps left to turn 5 with 28 laps left to go and Rossi and Stoner passed each other 6 times and all of them were aggressive from both riders. Rossi had the inside going into the corkscreew but was a little to hot and ran off the track like I have seen many times on bikes and cars. He had no choice but to come straight back on the track and stayed on the inside half of the track. They came out of the turn almost side by side like they had been in most turns the previous lap. I don't see this as a penalty but two very aggressive riders that wanted to win. With the Ducati squirming around on every turn I could have seen Stoner making this same mistake and eventually he did.

As far as Stoner running off the track it looked like he hit the breaks to late and ran up on Rossi. Rossi didn't swerve and if he breaked early it didn't look like he did it abruptly with no squirming and no quick loading of the suspension. I think Stoner at that point was just trying to push to hard and made a mistake like he said.

Is this the first time that Stoner has actually had to race in over a year? This year he was either way ahead or made a mistake and had to pass lesser riders. I still fear that if Yamaha and Hondo are not able to upgrade their bikes when we get back to the tracks that actually have a straight Stoner will walk away again and not have to push his bike like today and we will be back to the normal program, run away races.

Right now I am pulling for the engineers to give the riders bikes that will let todays fun continue.

Last year Hopkins and Hayden were taken out of their home grand prix because Stoner ran wide in turn 2.
Both of those guys were completely devestated. That's the one race where the limelight focuses mainly upon them. Quite possibly it is their biggest race of the year. Without a doubt it was for Nicky who was going into it undefeated at his home turf.
Amazingly both guys called it a racing incident and walked away without saying a word.
They could have easily ripped each other to the media.
Today Stoner finished in 2nd place and ran his mouth more than the two of them did after that incident.
I'm trying real hard to find a reason why I should have any respect for him

I believe Hopkins and Hayden took out one another. Hopkins and Hayden had the same chance of winning this year as last year. Why do you have to respect Stoner at all?

I think we know the plan now, get in front of Stoner and try to stay there by taking the defensive lines.

Obviously some tracks are a bit harder to do this but we will see, i don't think Stoner has had enough of an education yet to be able to dual with Rossi.

Stoner loses his head very easily and gets frustrated into making mistakes, he also didn't really know what to do when it came to trying to pass Rossi.

He tried a couple of moves and looked very average indeed.
