Best move of the weekend for me was Spies getting off the couch and walking to the fridge for a cold beer, then returning to the couch.

The way he handled the corkscrew while opening a bottle of wine was breathtaking

I like that - for some silly reason I have become fond of corkscrew jokes

A black, a mexican and a jew walk up to the corkscrew. The corner marshall says "Get the .... outta here!"

I think the benefit of the doubt could be argued on both riders parts on the basis of intent.  Does anyone think either of them ever wanted to go off the road there??  I don't, but if it had been a little trip accross a flat tarmac run-off area I would be much more sceptical because it could easily look like 'the easy option' or taking the piss entry speed wise because you know you can.

No one intends to run wide at chicanes, but the advantage gained is always substantial, and that's why racers piss and moan about it so frequently for both cars and bikes. It's gotten to the point where some sanctioning bodies install chicanes in the runoff areas for the chicanes b/c they want to make sure the rider loses time for dangerously brake-bombing the corner entry.

The corkscrew isn't your typical chicane so the rules are atypically applied. In other words, rider do whatever they want.

Great, so deliberately overshooting corners is now an accepted race tactic.

I wouln't know about this sort of thing happening in moto2, I don't pay too much attention to what's happening there anymore. But I'll take your word for it.

In WSBK they were penalising riders cutting chicanes regardless of overtaking. One wheel over the curb and instant penalty. Seemed a bit extreme att.

While at Laguna it turned out to be a relatively minor incident, what if Marquez overcooks it and falls, only to be run over by Rossi with no way to avoid him?

While I must admit I find Marquez highly entertaining, considering what has happened both in motogp in the past and this weekend in WSS I believe race direction has a duty of care to the riders, beyond the 'spirit of the racing', to do all it can to keep them reasonably safe. Or to put it another way, to save them from themselves. Marquez himself probably has no fear, but seeing him racing wheelchairs might not be so entertaining.

Yamaha running on lawnmower power has no chance. They're out of engines.. Honda #1

Even if they have used all 5 engines, which i dont think they have, that does not mean they are out of engines. If Yamaha does in fact end up starting some races from pit lane, it will be an engineering coup for Honda. Something their marketing dept should take full advantage of.

Yamaha is on its 4th engine. Honda has only used 2.

Don't worry, it won't matter, Marquez is going to run away with the championship while Rossi keeps saying he must go faster and Lorenzo keeps high siding to the moon. Pedrosa permanantly the brides made

I actually think Ben does a nice job with the mic. I think this was his 3rd time doing that...perhaps plan C is being implemented.

I did hear a rumour that Ben did well in the commentator's chair....

"[..]we need to be a little bit free in the mind, because in the end, the people watch to see a show" Marquez on the corckscrew overtake (lifted straight from mm).

He says he needs new pneumatics and the five-wheel hub is outdated. He's waiting for this upgrade before he becomes competitive:

They also have to move the up and down control to the other side to ease the load on his shoulder.

What's the deal with Yamaha factory team management? Is wilco the team manager? Just wondering as in the press releases he is credited as 'team manager' but only ever talks about his side of the garage?
