Well, since we are all putting up pics of our beloved dogs, here are mine. I just took them to the beach. They were playing in the water, that’s why they look scruffy, but their coat is beautiful when dry. You are looking at Ricky & Lucy, Australian Shepherds.
And I suppose it’s fitting, because this thread is about the joy of life, and dog lovers know that they give us so much happiness and joy. Its no wonder why Valentino had his dog riding with him all those years. Truly an endearing gesture by the Doc!

Ok, so on to another story (sorry for the delay)
Dani…Te Amo!!! (If you don’t know what that means, the translation is: “Dani…I love you!!!)
So as you can imagine, the gang is walking around finding great vantage points along the track to see the riders pass by. We had walked all along the back side starting from turn 5 (near our campsite) toward the back uphill that leads to the famous Cork Screw (perhaps the most famous piece of tack in the world made more famous by a one Valentino Rossi). We take a few group pictures up there (Gator has posted) and then we start walking down toward Rainey Curve and turns 9 & 10. At the bottom is a giant Repsol hospitality tent. CaliKid and I have a mutual friend who works at this hospitality. She is a darling of a friend and anybody who meets Stacy falls immediately in love with her. So CaliKid sees Stacy and asks her to let us into the VIP area. Now keep in mind its not like two or three people, its like 10 deep. But she lets us all in much to her coworkers visible chagrin. So we are kicking back taking advantage of the free beer, etc. Then we hear there is gonna be a Dani Pedrosa autograph signing and Q&A session. Coool!
Disclaimer: Most of you may know, but for the new members, let me get you up to speed, I have NOT always been much of a Dani Pedro fan, so this was an attempt to have a little fun with the guy. Its all light hearted, but you will find that at the end of this story, the joke was on me...
So we take our positions, and literally we are front and center from the stage, I take my seat at the front of the table so I’m closest to the stage. Our friend starts giving out Repsol orange hats. My buddy Cris gives me a great idea, so I take a sharpy marker and write “Dani…Te Amo!!!” on the front and put on the hat. A few minutes later comes in Mr. Pedrosa. (By the way, I was so buzzed that I had originally miss spelled Dani’s name but thanks to Gator, he corrected me). I sit there through the entire Q&A about 5-10 feet from him wearing this orange hat with big black letter saying in Spanish “Dani…I LOVE YOU!!!. The entire time I have a glee in my eye like, I really am your biggest fan! The Q & A ends, and it even gets better. They start giving us these little Repsol motorcycle replicas in a box and we start to line up to get a autograph from Dani. Coool!
I promptly get in line wielding my “Dani…Te Amo!!!” hat, (honestly, I saw some stares from people like, ‘WTF, is this guy for real’.) but this is MotoGP, and God knows riders are like rockstars, so all seems normal. I get up the line, I hand Pedro my motorcycle, he signs it, then I say, “Dani…Te Amo, porfavor, te tomas una foto con migo?” (Dani…I love you, please, will you take a picture with me?) I can’t remember if he said yes or no or if he muttered a word, I was kinda a bit buzzed anyway, snap snap, Gator takes the pic. So I walk away, and in a moment I realize, ...., I didn’t ask him to sign my hat! So I cut back in line, I tell this girl in line, “I’m sorry, I was just in line and forgot to get my hat signed, will you let me in?” So, there I am, again in line, and I hand Dani my hat. Again in Spanish I tell him, “Dani…Te Amo mucho!” (mucho is ‘a lot’) and ask him to sign my hat. Snap snap, Gator our official photographer again gets the shot. Dani seems genuinely pleased, as you can see from his bright smile. And just like that… I became ‘somewhat’ of a fan. <Yes you read that right. Thanks to Calikid and Arrabbi, who were genuinely giddy and enamored with Dani, and talking with them combined with Dani’s willingness to take a picture with a full grown man wearing a ridiculous orange hat that had emblazoned “DANI…TE AMO!!! on it, goes a long way in my book. (By the way if you look closely at the picture, you will see the dots are actually hearts, haha). Because the man did that, I have become ‘somewhat’ of a fan! (Oh and speaking of detail in the picture, it was harder than you might think as this tent is a bright orange and the other photographers were complaining about how impossible the white balance and other camera speak is near impossible. But we have our secret weapon…GatorDuc! )
If you look closely, you will see Dani actually laughing a bit as he is singing my hat (or is it my imagination?) The girl in the far background with a white shirt hunch over picking something up is Stacy. Oh, and check out the girl in line behind me, she is like WTF. The lady with here arms crossed is Dani's official press officer...do you think she will write a story about how she met Dani's biggest fan?
